Love it. But, don't really understand your Title. (It's not in Vain! The man is Vain!!! The man thinks he's beautiful, so he ignores women!)
Ну и зря

If I’d wanted to translate the title literally, it would be «Ты так тщеславен», the same line I am using later in translation. But to me, the meaning of the song is “you think the world revolves around you, but in fact - you’re so vain” — «ты думаешь, что ты - центр вселенной, ну и зря»
Your version "Kak тебе ударность" has absolutely no meaning in Russian. I cannot even figure out how have you ended up with this concept. ;)
One last thing! You should look at my translation one last time before it disappears under the shadow of this translation. :)
LOL No need for any sorries. I am well aware that my Russian is putrid. And, just so you know. I've let my sister read your comments on how crappy my Russian is. She thinks you guys/gals are great. Of course, she speaks absolutely NO Russian, but she loves your comments. :)
Oh, and as for me, I thank you for all your help so that I may improve. However, it really isn't possible to "know" Russian sayings and drug terms, luckily I have helpful people like you to straighten me out. I still loved "Kak тебе ударность" From the English point of view, it's rather witty. Too bad it's just stupid in Russian. LOL
LOL All of this is funny. It's not an idiom, it's idiotic. When the song was written, Mrs. Simon was asked repetitively what the hell she meant when she sang "dreams were clouds in my coffee". Her response was always unspecific. She tried to act as though it was deep psychological poetry. But, I (and many other people) thought she was just stoned on Marijuana when she wrote it. It was, after all, the 70s. LOL.
My opinion doesn't count, I know, but I think it would be best to translate it literally, "я имела снах, но они были облака в кофе". Believe me, it makes as little sense in English as it would in Russian. ;)
Oh Iggy, I'm sorry I caused you such pain! :) Making you rewrite my horrible translation.
I just figured out that my translation may have been "How cabinet you!" I think I used the wrong English translation of "vanity"!
Oh well, even though I messed it up horribly. I still loved my literal translations of: "Ты отдал все твои любившие вещи, а одну из них была я. У меня было снах, но они (изчезали как) облака (молока) в кофе."
I know that makes no sense in Russian, but it's so damn poetic in English. It was actually part of American culture, back then. LMAO. I remember in the 70s,when someone would say something stupid, we used to say, "Enough with the clouds in your coffee." Not anymore. Kids nowadays don't even know this song, unless their grandparents play it for them. And, I can guarantee you that if a kid nowadays heard this song for the first time, their reaction would be the same: "What the hell is 'clouds in coffee?!?" LMAO.
As a side note, I have a friend who is as old as I am (so he's quite familiar with this song - which was a HUGE hit in the 70s). My friend, however, has never accepted the notion that he's as old as he is. He still fancies himself to be a young, handsome man. It doesn't matter to him that he walks with a cane. Everywhere he goes, he looks in the mirrors and checks what's left of his hair to see that those strands are in place. If we ever go out to someplace that has a Jukebox, I put on "You're So Vain". He and I laugh, and I sing the chorus at him. He laughs, and sings the chorus in the mirror. Oh, memories.
May these lyrics become immortal! Clouds in coffee to all of you! Hugs.
