I'm not sure if this dub had 2 dubs or not I just know that this dub comes from 2001.

Voice actor trivia: Fekete Zoltán has been voice acting processionally for a very long time. But some of his most notable roles are probably: providing the Hungarian dub voice for Shaggy in ALL of the cartoon Scooby Doo movies and in ALL of the cartoon Scooby Doo seasons (from Scooby Doo, Where are you? through the present but I'm not sure about 'Be Cool, Scooby Doo' though), Tai in the Hungarian dub of Digimon for season 1 (probably season 2 as well), Billy and Billy's dad in the Hungarian dub of The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy,
and the Hungarian dub voice for Liam in Bizaardvark. And these are just to name a few!

If any of the lyrics are incorrect the dubbing company were the ones who made the mistakes not me. Any mistakes made I will NOT be fixing or changing!

Notable mistake: Transylvania should actually be called Erdély in Hungarian

If this version seems "faster" that's because it's sped up to make the running time slightly shorter. I don't know if there's a word for that, but I call it transpression. (It comes from the words "transposed" and "compressed", two words I previously used to describe it. And those are precisely what it is!)

It usually happens in PAL countries for some reason. Such countries include Australia, China, Brazil and most of the countries in Europe, just to name a few. (One notable exception is France, which uses SECAM)

For whatever reasons, after I went through my English translation word for word I was left with 2 words in Hungarian that I did not know an English translation for. So that is why there are 2 places with ????? in the spot. If anybody has a better translation or realized that I misspelled something, please tell me!

Translation notes: it was either going to say "the two Germanys" or "the two German lands". Even though the original English line was "and Germany now in one piece" I guess the Hungarian dub did not here the news about Germany? Anyway, I chose "the two German lands" because of how vastly different East Germany and West Germany were.

I also kept Holland as Holland.

Wouldn't "Irek" be "Irish" in English? (Instead of just writing Irek again)
Also, "na" is not an English word. Maybe you should try using "so" or "and so" and see if it sounds better.

Sailor PokeMoon2Sailor PokeMoon2    Lun, 18/02/2019 - 03:33

Yeah it probably is "Irish" in English. And yeah I know "na" is not an English word because I had made a typo. Yeah I think I will try your "so" or "and so" idea. I had gotten busy comparing the lyrics from the original English version to my English translation because unlike Wakko... I do not have this song memorized. Thank you!

Sailor PokeMoon2Sailor PokeMoon2    Lun, 18/02/2019 - 04:19

Nevermind, Irek does mean Irish in English but apparently Irek also means Ireland?

RinijikRinijik    Lun, 18/02/2019 - 05:13

Well, I speak Hungarian, and I've never heard Írek used for anything other then Irish, as in plural. I think Ireland would be Írorszag. But as I've noticed in this song, they don't always use the contry's names, like "gőrőg" instead of "gőrőgország" and "magyarok"( "Hungarians") instead of "magyarország - Hungary". So maybe the same thing happened here.

RinijikRinijik    Lun, 18/02/2019 - 05:14

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be rude. I hope I could help. Regular smile

Sailor PokeMoon2Sailor PokeMoon2    Lun, 18/02/2019 - 06:26

No you were not rude! And you helped a lot! Thank you for that! Back to the song though.... I do not know much Hungarian but I was confused with the song's English translation because many of the words used were the languages that were spoken there instead of the place's actual name. Hmmm 🤔

RinijikRinijik    Jue, 21/02/2019 - 01:28

I think it's because in Hungarian, a lot of the country's names actually end in the word "county" or "orszag", which makes their names really long: ex. Hungary is Magyarorszag (literally: Hungarian-country), Greece is Gorogorszag, and Turkey is Torok-orszag. So it would make sense just to use the name of the language or just a shorter version of the county's name; like using "Irek/Irish" instead of the much longer Irorszag, or just Torok instead of Torokorszag.

Sailor PokeMoon2Sailor PokeMoon2    Jue, 21/02/2019 - 04:25

I looked that up because I am not very good with Hungarian names for countries and I think maybe you are right. So I guess in that sense my English translation was actually.... correct? 😱

RinijikRinijik    Jue, 21/02/2019 - 05:07

Yeah, I think so. Wink smile Because what they actually meant in the song is the country's name, even though they couldn't really say it.

Sailor PokeMoon2Sailor PokeMoon2    Jue, 21/02/2019 - 09:42

That's what I had thought that they had meant! I do have an easy question for you though. What is this song's title in Hungarian?

FloppylouFloppylou    Jue, 21/02/2019 - 09:50

"Picike" means "little" or "tiny" in Hungarian (2nd sentence)
So you have : "Little Dominica" instead or "??? Dominica" Wink smile

Sailor PokeMoon2Sailor PokeMoon2    Dom, 24/02/2019 - 22:45

I had actually used Google Translate for that word so I kind of already knew that but I left the English translation out because I have never heard of the Dominican Republic being called "Little Dominica" before. It confused me 🤔

FloppylouFloppylou    Lun, 25/02/2019 - 08:08

Hungarians don't usually call "Dominian Républic" "little Dominica". The real full name is Dominikai Köztársaság.
It's more like a gentle name, a nickname. I mean, in this song they talk about "Germany reunited as one piece" etc, and lots of countries' name are not even actual (in French for example, I've never heard about "Dahomey" because their real, official name is Benin. Dahomey is the name of the older french colony (1894 !).
In my opinion, it's more something gentle to say that, compared to others countries quoted in the same line, Dominician Republic is the tiniest one -not the real name.

Sailor PokeMoon2Sailor PokeMoon2    Lun, 25/02/2019 - 20:20

Oh OK! So I guess since it's a nickname I will remove the ???? marks. Thank you so much for your help!

RinijikRinijik    Lun, 25/02/2019 - 16:35

Yeah, the different languages probably translated the names like that, so it would sound good for the song. They used words that would fit with the rhythm, and rhyming etc, so the names might be a bit off.
