בהתחדש הסתיו מעל ביתנו
עם רחיפת העב האפורה,
בפרוח החצב בחצרנו
הלב נועל אשנב על הרהוריו.
 
הנפש מבקשת אל הבית
והיראה אוחזת חדריו,
בערב עם שלהבת השמים
אנחנו נכנסים אל גן הסתיו.
 
ולמניין שנותינו עוד שנה נוספה
עת ארבע העונות יוצאות במעופה
ונר הנשמה שלי עודו בוער
אולי מחר שוב הרקיע יתבהר.
 
הנה כל שקמל ישוב לפרוח
וכל אשר כשל שוב לא ימעד
ואלה השוכבים עכשיו בלי נוע
אולי מנוחתם תינון לעד.
 
אנחנו שחיים על סף הערב
בחלוננו מתייצבים דומם,
בסתיו הזה דרכנו שוב נוהרת
אל עבר הימים אשר אי שם.

Garden of Autumn

As Autumn renews upon our home
along with the gray gliding cloud,
as the squill blossoms in our garden -
the heart locks the window of its thoughts.
 
The soul seeks home
but fear has taken over its rooms.
At eve, along with the flames of heaven,
into the Garden of Autumn we go.
 
Another year has been added to our counted years
as the four seasons take flight,
and the candle of my soul is burning still,
perhaps tomorrow the sky will turn bright again.
 
All that had withered shall rebloom
and all that had failed shall never stumble again,
and those who now lie unmoving,
perhaps their rest shall be stilled forevermore.
 
We, who live upon the threshold of eve,
silently stand by the window.
This Autumn our path shall once again flow
toward yonder days.
