Branches of the pomegranate tree tangled over me

When branches of the pomegranate tree tangled over me,
The lemon tree came to rescue.1
I don't want (to be with) this handsome man.
Just take me (back) to my people.*

When branches of the pomegranate tree tangled over me,
The lemon tree came to rescue.
I don't want this handsome man.
Just take me to my people.

When branches of the pomegranate tree tangled over me,
The lemon tree came to rescue.
I don't want this handsome man.
Just take me to my people.

No need to wait, Mom2
Quit waiting
I will do what I want to do
There is no escape from this.**

When branches of the pomegranate tree tangled over me,
The lemon tree came to rescue.
I don't want this handsome man.
Just take me to my people.

All of you, oppressed women,
Go to the shrine of (Musa al-Kadhim)3
There at the master of all masters4
You shall take off your grief.***

  • 1. Explanation of these 2 lines: When the branches of the pomegranate tree (short in height with a dense branches) tangled, blocking the light of the sun and leaving me in the darkness of shade, the lemon tree (tall, with a less dense branches) made its way through the tangled branches allowing the light to pass in.
