New profile fields have been added recently. "Advanced", "Intermediate", and "Beginner" fields will replace "Studied languages".
All languages from the Studied section have been moved to the Beginner section automatically.
Please update your profiles accordingly.
Thanks for that! It's a good addition and less generic than the older ones :) Maybe we could also notify advanced speakers of languages whenever a request is opened in them? I mean, let's say I put Greek as a language I'm an advanced speaker of it - then someone opens a request into Greek. Could I be notified about it?
Also, just checked, the strings are missing in the interface translation tool.
Actually you can fully customize request notifications (they're not bound to the languages in your profile).
For example, if you want to be notified about Portuguese → English you can go to the requests page, search for translation requests from Portuguese to English, go to the bottom of the page and click on “Subscribe to new Portuguese → English requests”. The same works for transcription requests.
Beginner - Is able to revise a third-party translation from that language on paper, one word at a time, might be able to translate simpler sentences
Intermediate - Is able to correctly translate about >70% sentences from that language on paper, barring the most complex ones
Advanced - Is able to correctly translate about >95% of the sentences from that language on paper, simpler sentences can be translated by memory alone
Fluent - Is able to read any sentence from that language without the need of a translation
Almost Native - Is able to translate any sentence TO that language, almost indistinguishably from what another native would have come up with

I wonder if this could be expanded to allow the familiar "A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2" as well, which adds a bit more specification?
I don't think it's necessary, if someone claims to be at intermediate level, that should tell us he should be able to correctly translate most excerpts from most texts, except for the most difficult parts, with complex words or sentences, that may require a deeper inquiry into the source
Didn't say "necessary", I was just suggesting it as an optional specification for those who might want to indicate it. Personally, I would prefer being a bit more specific - and more honest - and indicating "B1" for my current level of Ukrainian.
The CEFR tags, while useful, would probably be overkill here. Those classifications have to do with how well a person can read, write, and converse in a given language.
On the other hand, even an A2 with a good dictionary, plus a decent knowledge of the language's grammar, ought to be able to do a passable translation of some of the more simple song lyrics (i.e. not getting too deep into idioms, figures of speech, or complex sentence structures).
I lacked words to express myself, but @cph1776 describe the situation well, the tags for the tiers below fluent level already imply one is able to translate FROM that language, but not TO that language
To translate TO that language, one needs to be at fluent level, at bare minimum
