Geheimnisvoll sind Würfelquallen,
Die wabern durch Poseidons Hallen.
Wenn sie auch schweben wie Plankton,
Nennt man sie doch zurecht Nekton,
Sie sind uralt, aus dem Karbon.
 
Seewespen oder Cubozoa,
Leben weit weg, so vor Bermuda,
Doch sind Australiern auch bekannt,
Weil sie sich tummeln nah am Strand,
Der Surfer bleibt frustriert an Land.
 
Auch weiße Haie gehen stiften,
Sie wollen sich hier nicht vergiften,
Denn tödlich ist das Nesseltier,
Wenn jemand dringt in sein Revier,
Sei es aus Spaß, sei es aus Gier.
 
Gewarnt wird oft vor diesen Quallen,
Sie lassen sich nichts mehr gefallen,
Denn heilig ist Poseidons Reich,
Und Plastik macht Medusen bleich,
Drum werft keins rein, und tut es gleich.

The meaning of the last two lines:
Because of all the plastic in the ocean the jellyfishes become pale ("bleich") with fright
So please stop throwing plastic into the ocean, and stop it now (immediately)

Das Personalpronomen "sie" bezieht sich in der Regel auf das davor stehende und passende Substantiv, hier also die Quallen. 🐙

Actually the jellyfishes have every reason to be grateful to us. Our dramatic overconsumption of fish led to their proliferation, and they have no stomach to be clogged by our plastic trash.
On the other hand, we're well on our way to wiping out quite a few species of sharks, mostly for soup seasoning and the amusement of a few surfers. What an inglorious demise for creatures that roamed the oceans for 150 million years...
