"doom dee dee doom" would perhaps be a more phonetic "translation" :)
Tand: perhaps "pizazz" or "kitsch" might be better. Maybe even "hype" though that doesn't quite feel right here.
"Doch wer Tand für Hand und Land als nicht so richtig elegant
Und das Freundschaftsunterpfand als ganz gelinde hirnverbrannt abtut"
"But who writes off kitsch/pizazz/hype" as not being really elegant, and the friendship pledge as quite mildly preposterous" - I think that might be better, though I'm not a 100 percent sure I understand the german.
"Womit schreibt man sich ins All?" - How do you make yourself known in the universe?
"knaller" - "cracker" has a quite different meaning in english. "banger" sort of gets the point of cross, but it just sounds very strange. I think "person who makes the bang" would be best here.
"Und vielleicht denkt dass nur wer n Knall hat sich den Fall antut" "and perhaps thinks, only a crazy person would willingly take the fall." "round the bend" is just a really uncommon way of speaking as far as I know, and "do the fall" sounds rather awkward.
I've never heard the word "benight" until today. Even after looking in the dictionary I'm not sure what it means xD. Maybe "darkened"? Or "blinded"?
These are the lyrics I found here:
