  Soyeon is asking the audience why our perception of the word ‘nude’ is generalised as people, mainly women, exposing themselves and how our view is so rude, meaning that it is dirty-minded. The word doesn’t have to have such a ‘rude’ meaning. She’s asking us to ‘look outside the box’ and consider what other meanings the word might have — Perhaps ‘nude’ could represent how society expects them to be ‘objects’ for pleasure and instead they are breaking boundaries and being themselves as artists; doing what they want to do in their work, hence why they have chosen to speak up about this issue of women in the industry being seen as less than men.

  “Yeppi Yeppi” is Korean slang based on the word for pretty- “yeppuda” (예쁘다). Here, the speaker acknowledges that many have doubts about her intelligence because of hew beauty. This reflects not only the lives of women in the idol industry, but of famous women everywhere. Soyeon has stated that much of “I love” was inspired by Marilyn Monroe.

  Yuqi is dressed as herself, not as Marilyn, and pushes the make-up artists away and throws away a book/magazine titled ‘nude’. She is challenging the view people have on her and does not like the fact that people just want them to shut up and look pretty. What she does in this cutscene symbolises that ‘nude’ is not just people exposing themselves.

• 뒤틀려버린 로렐라이 Don't need no man:

  “Lorelei” is the name of a siren in German folklore who lured men to their death on the Rhine River. This line references the cultural misunderstanding many men, especially in South Korea, have about feminism, thinking that feminist women hate all men like Lorelei did.

• 철학에 미친 독서광:

  The song is about Marilyn Monroe. Marilyn was a movie actress during the 50’s and was known as one of Hollywood’s most iconic sex symbols. Marilyn was an extremely smart woman but the directors treated her like an object which Marilyn was tired of. She was a fan of literature and philosophy and stood up for racial equality, gender equality etc.

• 꼴이 볼품없대도 망가진다 해도 다신 사랑받지 못한대도:

  Yuqi is saying that this is the concept that (G)I-DLE is going for, and this is the message that they are spreading. They do not care what the media’s opinion is, they will be their authentic selves no matter if the response is negative.

  This line is referring to the perspective of those who looked up the title of the song for another purpose, and in a sense directly calling them out, as the message of the song implies.

• Now I draw a luxury nude:

  This is a reference to the time a Banksy painting shredded itself during an aution.

• I'm born nude 변태는 너야:

  This line reflects the main message of the song, as well as the title’s purpose of mirroring the search results of those whom the message is directed toward, by addressing the over-sexualization and objectification of women. Women aren’t prompting being sexualized by merely existing in their natural state.
