This translation uses UNNATURAL English on purpose, but it is correct. I use cognates as often as possible to aid language learning. I will NOT use cognates with wrong meanings. See the notes below for places where I stretched it a bit, such as "buccal cavity" for "boca", which would more naturally be translated as "mouth". I am not sure, but I think the buccal cavity may only refer to the space in front of the teeth and behind the lips, not the whole mouth. Animals without teeth also have a buccal cavity (some animals), and I wouldn't necessarily say they have a mouth. They have an eating hole - and a buccal cavity.

Note A: "To cognize" (US) or "to cognise" (UK) is a real English word. It means "to meet for the first time" or "to become aware of". After cognizing an idea, you can recognize it on subsequent occasions. As an English speaker, I would not say that you can cognize a person, but maybe you can.

Note 1: "Peligro" (danger) and "peril" (danger) are cognates. Do you see the value of this type of translation now? I hope so.

Note 2: "Que se empañen los vidrios" has multiple cognates in English that I sadly cannot use because the meaning has changed too much, or they do not exist as the right part of speech. "Empañar" is the prefix em- with the Spanish word "paño", which is cognate with "pane", as in "pane of glass", as in a window. However, "empañarse" actually means "to get covered in steam" in this case. Both the English "pane" and the Spanish "paño" have derived heavily relative to the Latin word, which refers to a rag or washing a window with a rag. "Vidrio" is cognate with English "vitreous", meaning "having to do with glass". Note that "paño" (es) and "pane" (en) can refer to windows and are cognate, but "window" (en) and "ventana" (es) are NOT cognate, are more common terms for windows, and refer to the fact that windows relate to "the wind" or "el viento".

Note 3: "Gozar" (es) and "enjoy" (en) actually are cognates via Latin "gaudeo", which means "joy" or "gozo". The cognation is hard to see, especially in English, but it is well-attested. "Gozo" is no longer a noun in Spanish, but it once was.

Note 4: "Faltar" (es) is congate with "to fail" (en), and this is a decent translation, but "faltar" means "to lack". In the case of respect, which is intangible, I have taken the liberty of using a cognate that would have the wrong meaning for a tangible object, such as a car. A failing car and a missing car are different. Failing to respect and lacking respect are the same. "To fail" is a cognate but "to lack" is not, so I have used "to fail".

Note 5: "Direct" (en) is cognate with "derecho" (es). As you may have already guessed, this means that "dirrección" (es) and "derecho" (es) are doublets. "Directive" is a noun in English that is closer to being a translator's friend with "derecho", but you can also ask for directions while undressing someone. In terms of how they would like to be undressed.

Note 6: "Gusto" means "enthusiasm" in English. However, it is most definitely cognate with the Spanish word "gustoso", which means "tasty". It is also cognate with the English word "gustatory", meaning "relating to taste". Also, I'm just going to say "gusto" (English word) is a faithful translation because expressing enthusiasm is exactly what Romeo is doing. Referring to taste or flavor is a metaphor, using an English cognate that has nothing to do with flavor seems to preserve the intent.

Note 7: "Llorar" (es) is cognate with "to implore" (en). The cognation of "llorar" and "implore" is more obvious if you know that the double-L in Spanish often came from PL- in Latin, which was the case here. "Lluvia" (es, "rain") is cognate with "pluvial" (en, "having to do with rain"), showing that English has conserved the Latin spelling whereas Spanish has not. Guitars can't actually do either of these verbs (llorar or implore), but it sounds like the guitar is crying. I would say "to implore" and "to cry for" (phrasal verb) are synonyms in English, but "to cry" is not. So a guitar can cry for freedom, or cry for equal voting rights.

Note 8: These are all real English words and cognates with "bien" (well). They are also all good things, but not generally used to describe the appearance of a human. A benign tumor is better than a malignant tumor. "You look benign" is possibly an insult, in my opinion. It might mean that the person looks ineffective, or like they don't matter.
