Scottish, Irish, Welsh and English traditional folk song
I love Arabic music, from classical tarab to Egyptian pop to cheesy late-1990s Lebanese music videos. I’ve been listening to Arabic music for years, and as a singer and musician, enjoy performing it with friends in my community.
I wish I spoke Arabic well enough to contribute something to this site. Growing up in Scotland, I didn’t get much exposure to formal Arabic, and despite studying the spoken language informally (to the point that I can get by in social conversation) I’m afraid the written alphabet and grammar still present a major challenge.
I’m not giving up, but for now, I must rely on the knowledge of others. So I am very grateful to the folks on this site who are providing me with the lyrics to so many songs that have mystified me for years. Thank you!
