Poppée

Your face folds up like an accordion
When you smile at the angels you’re so beautiful I’m so stupid
Poppée

Your face opens up like the sea long ago
When your sparkles discover
This sun so big
Poppée

You’ve struck camp between your two parents
In a too big bed where two lazy old things
Poppée
Doze before being romantic again
It s not that you take up a lot of space, in your bed you’d be more comfortable
Poppée

This love which was at the end of our rifle
I was ready to fire, I swear that she was too
Poppée
And then you came and watered out horses
In that moonless night at the end of our roll
Poppée

When I plant my nose in your neck my Poppée
Like in a wineglass
I Inhale the fruity aroma of your dress
And that stings under my eyelids Poppée
And the happiness that flows in my streams
Snatches me at the moment away from this bastard's life

You walk on all fours, me, I'm on my last legs
In your silken hair there’s some blond there’s some red
Poppée

And on this golden ring I’ve taken too many blows
I’m falling down but I won’t let go of you my little scrap
You’re as beautiful as a prayer, you’re beautiful without doing it on purpose
I look at you kneeling, you look at me astonished

Your face folds up like an accordion
When you smile at the angels you’re so beautiful I’m so stupid

I had completely overlooked this guy, but it seems he knows how to write beautiful French. A pleasant surprise indeed.

Doze before before romantic again -> being ?

vie de salaud -> more like a bastard's life. I understand it as him thinking he is forced to do debatable things by circumstances.

je tiens plus debout -> that's a negation in spoken form, and practically an idiom ("I'm about to collapse")

I think this album in particular is rather charming - it seems to be his "On the road and thinking about my family and friends" album
He was featured talking about it on that show "Acoustic" Not sure if this can be viewed in France - I can't play it... http://tv5.ca/acoustic?e=8rt0fvoppn3n6

Being - Ah yes, typo thanks.

Oh right - "plus" often catches me out - that does make more sense! I've gone with "on my last legs" which is pretty much an idiom.

No joy for the link, but now I've got my sights on him anyway Regular smile
