Bamiba (Ba Muoi Ba)

Bamiba, Bamiba, Bamiba, wah-oo
(Bamiba, Bamiba, Bamiba, wah-oo)

Oh, won't you help me Sergeant get me out of Pleiku jail
I don't know how I got here, I was drunk from the Ho Chi Trail
It was Bamiba, Bamiba, Bamiba, wah-oo
(Bamiba, Bamiba, Bamiba, wah-ooo)

I didn't mean to be drunk
And bringing you all this shame
But I had a fight with a cyclo-girl down in lower Nha Trang
It was Bamiba, Bamiba, Bamiba, wah-oo
(Bamiba, Bamiba, Bamiba, wah-ooo)

Now this Da Nang jail has rats and fleas
And snakes crawl on the floor
Take me back to camp, Sarge and I won't get drunk no more
On Bamiba, Bamiba, Bamiba, wah-oo
(Bamiba, Bamiba, Bamiba, wah-ooo)

There's VC all around us
It's looking bad I think
We can't do a thing Sarge so lets have a little drink
Of Bamiba, Bamiba, Bamiba, wah-oo
(Bamiba, Bamiba, Bamiba, wah-ooo)

Oh, won't you help me Sergeant get me out of Pleiku jail
I don't know how I got here, I was drunk from the Ho Chi Trail
It was Bamiba, Bamiba, Bamiba, wah-oo
(Bamiba, Bamiba, Bamiba, wah-oo)
Bamiba, Bamiba, Bamiba, wah-ooo
(Wah-ooo)

The third line of the second verse should read: "But I had a fight with a CYCLO girl down in lower Nha Trang."

Barry Sadler's midwestern accent pronounced "cyclo" as "sicklo," which is why the word is usually misunderstood. In Vietnam, "cyclo girls" were young (and often pretty) girls who operated pedi-cycle taxis (a tricycle where the cyclist pulled passengers in a small carriage, similar to a rickshaw).
