Movies that most of the people love but you consider them as mediocre.
Which are the most overrated movies according to you?
*Insert any marvel/DC heroes films other than Iron-Man* as I find most of them rather cringey for some reason , same goes for most "action junkie" films (like Fast & Furious, all the films after the 1st 2 are highly overrated.) as well as crude humour films that rely on s*x jokes as their selling point sometimes.
*gasps* It requires some serious balls to say that. I'm impressed.
I personally think of the Pirates of the Caribbean.
Lol, it's ok I knew I was gonna be in the minority on this one xD
Ha ha I know, it's practically sacrilege to say that on the internet :P
You can also add to the list most "Oscar material" films, as in films made to win the Oscars rather than just being itself, movies like "Dunkirk"(which I just finished watching) or "Selma".
Star Wars franchise, most of the Marvel movies (but I like Black Panther and the Spiderman movies, except the Andrew Garfield ones), Godfather films, Shawshank Redemption (people say it's the best movie ever and I don't understand why), Frozen, the Matrix films, and the Harry Potter franchise.
After going through IMDB's Top 250 list and focusing on the ones rated above 9.5/10 average (!) by critics, I would also add these overrated movies:
Casablanca, Ben Hur, Rear Window and (acknowledging it was a game changer technically, at the time) Citizen Kane.
Some movies were good movies and game changers at the time but since the time... They haven't aged well too.
I'm going to get killed for this.... Mine are Step Brothers, the Hangover series and Frozen
I'm going to get killed for this.... Mine are Step Brothers, the Hangover series and Frozen
They're all mediocre at best. The Hangover series is seriously unfunny and, in part II, absolutely cringeworthy and borderline disgusting.
The two movies where my rating on IMDb is 1 star and critics rating is 7+ stars are:
* Enter the Void (7.3 rating) - maybe I didn't get it but it just feels like a bad trip
* Holy Motors (7.1 rating) - like a bad emulation of a David Lynch movie, weird but not in a good way
Thank you for saying that about both Hangover stuff! Though I have to admit, it WAS a bit interesting for me a sober never ever got drunk before person to watch a group of drunk idiots retrace their steps because I hadn't seen a movie do that before (at the time). Otherwise, I'd give it 5 fresh piles of poop.
The best movie for a sober person is "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas", though. A both funny and alarming insight into the life of regular drug (ab)users.
