A Rainy Evening

A rainy evening

An evening of rain
and fog
Some taxis
pass without seeing me
An insomnia
that became a nightmare
I only have one desire:
not to return too late
Anyway
I did not want to go out
and that evening
I had the blues
on the sidewalk

A kind of gangster
came to accost me
Play the mystery
to amaze me
There under the rain
he wants to chat
His little troubles
make me nauseous
Anyway
Me, what I want
is to sleep
and this evening
I had the blues
on the sidewalk

The lively dawn
finally comes
Gray and crowded
with parisians
but me, I do not care
I'm going back home
they run everywhere
Always and again
Anyway
I did not want to go out
and that evening
I had the blues
on the sidewalk

A rainy evening

Grise et gorgée / De parisiens -> I think "grise" is meant literally here (a grey dawn), and "gorgée de Parisiens" is rather like "overflowing/overcrowded with people (from Paris)"
"The lively dawn came at last, gray and crowded with city people" or something like that

J'rejoins mon décor. -> "rejoindre" as "going back to" here ("I'm going home")

Just a suggestion: give me nausea > make me nauseous

Just makes the English sound a bit more fluent Regular smile

Help me:
J'avais le blues
Le blues (the blues)
- Does it refer to "sadness" or "musical genre"?

Help me!
Thanks

I think both are acceptable, in the translations in english and german, they kept the "blues", meanwhile in spanish and italian they translated it to sadness, so i think it's up to you Teeth smile

  • Un soir de pluie et de brouillard
  • Uma noite de chuva e neblina
  • Quelques taxis passent sans me voir
  •
  • Un genre gangster vient m'accoster
  • Uma espécie de mafioso veio me abordar
  • Joue le mystère pour m'épater
  • Lançou seu mistério para me surpreender
  • Là sous la pluie il veut bavarder
  • Debaixo de chuva, ele quer conversar
  • Ses p'tits ennuis me donnent la nausée
  • Seus pequenos problemas me causam náuseas
  •
  •
  • L'aube animée arrive enfin
  • O alvorecer animado finalmente chega
  •
  • Un soir de pluie
  • Uma noite chuvosa...

wow, it's very nice to me, especially the part: "E hoje eu compus um blues na calçada" -> "And today I composed a blues on the sidewalk", you end up with an even better alternative! Teeth smile
I think you should publish it now Regular smile
