Submitter's comments:

Xe-NONE has dedicated this song to all the Soviet people who worked on the space program, to the very first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, and to everyone who believes that, someday, humanity will find the new worlds in the universe.

Space

Versions: #1#2
Takeoff.
One more.
The universe’s shore is too small
Space is calling us

Takeoff.
One more.
The dash into infinity
For the new dream

The gray days.
We’ve forgotten the first steps.
We’ve been deprived of the wonderful distant future
In a cruel way

The golden calf
Is of supreme value now
The first one, forgive us,
It might be the end

It might be
It might be the end…

Space, space,
We need outer space!
We’re dreaming of stars
In the cradle of Earth

Abyss, abyss
We’re falling down into the abyss
Without a celestial goal
We will simply die

***

Takeoff.
One more.
Through the hardships to stars
Flying like a yellow arrow

Takeoff.
One more.
To leave our trace
Beyond the final line

We have been deceived.
We’ve lost ourselves.
We’ve traded the stars
For the empty glass

The golden path,
The end is predictable
The starship got lost
In the dark and disappeared

(Such an end is so sad)

Space, space,
We need outer space!
We’re dreaming of stars
In the cradle of Earth

Abyss, abyss
We’re falling down into the abyss
Without a celestial goal
We will simply die

***

Space… Space…
Abyss… Abyss…

***

Space, space,
We need outer space!
We’re dreaming of stars
In the cradle of Earth

Abyss, abyss
We’re falling down into the abyss
Without a celestial goal
We will simply die

Are the two translations of this song you added really necessary?

Well, I do like the song, so why not to translate it? I thought it's something everyone does on this website.

Yes, but I asked because there are two English translations done by you. Are the copies different enough so both can remain?

Yes, there is a difference between the two translations, and I believe it is sufficient.

At first, I always translate the Russian lyrics into English “as it is”. I’m trying to make my translation as close to the original as possible, not adding or subtracting anything. No rhymes, no rhythm, no nothing. I’m one of those people who likes raw literal (yet still understandable and readable) translation, when looking at the lyrics written on the language I don’t understand. This is essential for those who, for example, are learning the language and are trying to understand how it works.

However, sometimes I feel like I could create some kind of singable lyrics or translyrics. So this is the case here. In my singable translations, I allow myself more freedom to interpret the original text. I'm trying to keep the main ideas, but the form may differ drastically.
