Yes, this year is the first time we take part at Zuchex. Essentially we have a category for candies and candy toys in our group company structure. And in recent years we have added plastic home products, bathroom and kitchenware products among our group company. All of our products made by our own. Now almost one year ago we begin to grow the brand. We took part in various fairs. We receive a quite number of requests from the domestic market as we started our advertisements.
Since we’re new with this brand in the business, we have started out with export to 10 countries at the moment. However, we get many new requests now, after that 10 countries. And with God’s help I hope we’ll expand our exports and we’ll explore new experiences.

- We know you by Toytoy which is on the way to become a world brand. But how did you decide to get this business in this industry?
How did the idea to enter the plastic industry come about?

- It’s because we make candy toys, we also make their packages and the toys inside out of plastic. After we increase our product line, and when we get demand in this sector, we entered this business with the same production line. Now we 7000 m2 area where we use for manufacturing and storage. As I said before, we get many requests from domestic market and we want to add new countries to our exportation and we make new goals day by day...
Mr. Yılmaz, as I look at your products I see that you have a large product range even though your brand is founded just 8 months ago... What kind of products you have in your product range?
- We have 3 pieces accessories bathroom set, 5 pieces accessories bathroom set, storage boxes, hangers, jug sets, glass-jug-tray set, storage boxes with the various shapes; fruit shaped boxes, hamburger shaped lunch boxes, dustbins... And we keep on adding new products; we work on R&D of course. In the next 6 months we’ll be introducing our new products as well...
- Let’s talk about prices in the industry; last two years we see an increasing on the prices of raw materials. What do you think about that?
Yes after the pandemic came out, and with the effects of the rise and falls in our local currency we see an increasing on the prices. Lately it seems stable but prices are still quite high if we compare to last year. And all our plastic products are made from BPA free material. We use nature conscious original raw material and paint which is design to be contact with food. So we are known by our quality in this industry but actually this makes us prominent on the market.
Therefore our prices are relatively high to compare with last years but thanks God our products are highly requested and so that redeem itself.
- Where we gonna see the brand “Gardenia Home” in next 3 or 4 years?
- We’ll see it everywhere in the world with God’s help. Next year we will take part at Ambiente in Frankfurt which is the World’s biggest consumer goods fair. This will be our first experience abroad at homeware section. We’ll be open a stand there and hopefully we will be selling our products to the whole world as well.

I want to ask something; how should I translate "Ahmet Bey"? As Mr. Ahmet or Mr. Yıldırım? I mean; Ahmet Yıldırım is the full name, Ahmet is first (given) name and Yıldırım is the surname. Here in Turkey we adress people by their first name with Bey/Hanım appendix in formal speaking. But Mr. "Surname" can be deceptive, isn't it? It could be perceived as the surname while it is actually the first name...

I had to translate a new part but i think it's already too late to ask for proofreading :'( Still, if you want to help me with this, i'd be very happy.

I realise my thinking process in my mother tongue especially when i have to translate these dialogues. I've never noticed that i've learnt idioms incorrectly such as "Thanks God"... What an enlightenment for me :)) Thank God :)

The meeting of Food World in Turkey; world food 2021, visitors and exhibitors from all over the world had the opportunity to expand their business by making new agreements.

International Food Products & Processing Technologies Exhibition; World Food İstanbul held at the Istanbul TUYAP exhibition center was held with high level of participation. The fair, where the newest technologies in the market were showcased, brought together the important brands of the sector. Toytoy Foods, one of the leading companies in the sector with its consciousness of quality serving at world standards, has taken part in World Food Istanbul.

As EkoTurkey, we continue our interviews with food industrialists at the World Food fair. of Toytoy Inc. CEO Ahmet Yıldırım is here with us, he’s also the chairman of the board of directors of the Gardenia group of companies which is operating in Romania and the rest of the Europe.

Mr. Yıldırım, at another fair, we’re back together with you again. You really have so many appealing products here. You put candies and toys together. Let’s talk about your products; what will you say?

Thank you very much, as you know we've been through hard times. We’re still in a pandemic, still through hard times. Now Thank God, we’ve taken off. The demand is very high nowadays. We didn’t expect this much. We‘re very happy about it. We get innumerous orders probably because of the fact that people have not been able to go out for a year and a half. Now we have candy toys and toys for children. We are also very happy to offer these products to the children.

- Can we talk about the product range, what do you produce? Which characters do you have under the Toytoy brand?

-Our Toytoy products are not harmful to our children's health, and we even have products that do not contain artificial colorants and artificial sweeteners. Everything is natural. We work very hard for it, we are very careful. Among them, there are PJ Masks, Hello Kitty, we have Kukuli. We offer our products to children with our licenses.

-Are these products always licensed products, Mr. Yıldırım?

- Generally they are. In addition, we have started to have products that we manufacture ourselves and which are now becoming licensed. Toytoy Unicorn is one of them, and now we begin to get license with our own products.

- Yes, Mr. Yıldırım, we see a booth like a jewelery showcase here. There is indeed a significant R&D study; combining toys and candies in so many different products is a great phenomenon, how do you achieve this?

- Of course, our R&D department works on it, and I would like to thank them very much on my own behalf. They make a good effort, they pay great attention to children. So we make products which are beneficial, not harmful to children, we work for them. The whole team collects data from around the world, we collect samples, we do R&D even with our own children and grandchildren.

- Yes, we see that our country has come to an important level in the food industry and our exports are increasing day by day, and our export figures are also increasing. We have exceeded 250 billion dollars as a country, what can you say about this? What is the number of countries you export to with the Toytoy brand?

- We are very satisfied with our exports. We get all over Europe, both the products we make in Turkey and Romania have started to spread all over the world. As of yesterday, we received our first order to America. We export to 25 countries from Turkey, and from Romania to 52 countries.

- You have another group of companies that spread from Romania to Europe and to the World; Gardenia. You have made a significant stride in hygiene industry. You manufacture cleaning products. We’d like to visit that booth as well.

- Of course. We are now in Romania. We established our first company 28 years ago. In 1993. We currently have a 700 employees 700 in our companies there. In addition to that, we have our own places in Germany and we export to 52 countries from there. We also have the hygiene group we produce there, especially our disinfectant products that have been in this last difficult period. According to the Nielsen reports, we are currently in the 1st place in Romania. Our products are licensed in the USA, Japan, and all over Europe. In fact, we are currently a registered trademark in China.

- Well now we are at the disinfectant and hygienic products stand, let's get to know these products...

- Of course. We have Hygenium here; it is a disinfectant product. It has been very beneficial for us and our friends at work during this pandemic period, it has protected us from germs and viruses. It is an effective product against the coronavirus. According to Nielsen reports, Hygenium is in the 1st rank in Romania at the moment. It’s for personal and for non-home use. And after that, now we offer our new products, which we call eight-eight, which contain 88 percent alcohol and can be used in operating rooms in hospitals.

- As the Gardenia group of companies, do you manufacture them yourself?

- Yes, we have 7 different productions there, from the packaging to the product inside. These are disinfectant products, cosmetic products, wet wipes, cleaning papers, towels, we produce them all ourselves.

- These products are exported from Romania to many European countries...

- Evet Avrupa'nın hatta dünyanın birçok ülkesine ihraç ediliyor ve gün geçtikçe de büyüyoruz.

- Yes, they are exported to many countries in Europe and even the world, and we are growing day by day.

- Which countries especially?

- We have mostly works in the European Union countries, here we just started in America, we started to make products there, and our products go to Arab countries as well.

- Especially during the pandemic process, we saw that there was a problem in the supply of disinfectant in Europe, were you able to keep up with the demands at that time?

- It was very difficult for us to keep up with the demands. Here, I would like to thank my friends, my colleagues, especially our friends in Romania, our friends in the supply chain in Turkey, all of them were heroes for us, for humanity. They did not give up, they were not afraid, they all worked, none of them said that “I should go home, I will not work from now on” From here, I would like to thank our friends in Romania and Turkey again.

- You have spend your years for the industry, for the production, for the export. What advice would you give to new entrepreneurs from here?

- I think the biggest secret of this is to want very much, to love very much, to work hard. If you love it very much, working doesn't seem tiring for you at all. I am 58 years old today, I’m a man with three sons and 2 grandchildren. But believe me, I am not tired in any way. I can even say I have more energy than 20 years ago.

- Well, finally, I want to ask about your goals; What are the goals for both Gardenia and Toytoy and for the hygienic products sector?

- Now our goal is... we want to prove ourselves in the global market. All our hard work is for this. We are doing our best to stay in global market and to be beneficial to humanity in the world; so we are working on how we can benefit humanity and how we can develop our products. All of us, including our colleagues aim for this.

Didn't read the whole thing, just a few things that stood out while skimming it:

Strike "of companies" as it's a bit too many "of"s and it's implicated from context anyway that it's not a group of chickens. ;)

It's really funny i still forget to put those "the"s, i feel my Turkishness 🤣 (Turkish doesn't have "the" prefix)

Just leave out "of companies" and it's fine.
