Das Alter ist ein höflich’ Mann:
Einmal über’s andre klopft er an;
Aber nun sagt niemand: „Herein!“
Und vor der Türe will er nicht sein.
Da klinkt er auf, tritt ein so schnell,
Und nun heißt’s, er sei ein grober Gesell.

Il frappe à la porte de chaque chaumière,
Pourtant personne ne dit : Entrez !
Et devant la porte il ne veut demeurer
Alors, il l'ouvre lui-même, et, vite, s'assied
Et, dès lors, se fait traiter d'individu grossier.

I removed my rating just because I do not speak german, I only read translations of german poems. But this attempt of yours is wonderful, I've read it as a poem and it's great.
