Literally "round," but people who write folk songs don't usually think about forests as a shape on a map, so I am interpreting it as a metaphorical usage indicating fullness, as in "kerek három perc" = "three solid minutes" (http://szotar.sztaki.hu/en/hungarian-english-dictionary/search?fromlang=...). "Deep, dark" are the adjectives stereotypically used to intensify the noun "forest" in English folk tales or songs.
