Farâ shcretâ

Aushi duruts ca oarfañi,
Di-adunu vâ stats cu xeñilli...
Mi-ari tâxitâ dada,
S-nu v-agârshescu dzeñili.

O, fara a noastâ ninga -
S-dirinâ sh-dânâseashti...
Noi pistusimu Hristolu -
Ma arău nâ si plâteashti!

Nâ hlamburâ anâltsatâ
Nâ-i bana nicurmatâ...
Hârdzite, fă nâ ñilâ
Trâ fara-nâ mâratâ!

Nu keari Armânamea,
Ni boatsea a llei ni numâ!
Câtu minduimu tu grailu
Di tatâ shi di mumâ!

Ahântâ nighineatsâ -
Trâ tsi n-ari avinatâ?
Tsi-adrămu noi di armasimu
Unu populu fârâ dadâ?

Ta s-nu kiremu ca prăvdzâ,-
Tutiputâ di oi, -
Hârdzite, ñiluianâ,
Sh-dipuni pristi noi...

Ill-starred nation

Longing grandparents like orphans,
With strangers you live together...
My mother made me pledge
Not to forget your foreheads!

Oh, our nation - still in distress,
But yet surviving!
We believe in Christ
But we are ill-rewarded.

An upraised banner
Is our ceaseless life
Lord, bestow some mercy
Upon our wretched people!

Never will there perish our Aromanian people,
Nor will their voice and name –
As long as we are thinking
In our parents’ language.

Why so much misery
Has kept haunting us?
What have we done to be
A people with no mother?

Lest we should perish like animals, -
Like a flock of sheep, -
Lord, have pity,
And descend upon us...
