Could you specify which artist are you talking about? But if you are talking about a solo artist who simply changes their name, the name of the artist page can be changed and the previous name can be added in "original name" (there's no better/more accurate field currently).

he was known as 'El Pescao'. He first was part of the Spanish group 'El canto del loco', but then started his solo career with the artistic name of 'El Pescao' (he sold several albums with this name, but currently he has released a new album with his own name 'David Otero'.
