Je ne l'ose dire

La, la, la, je ne l'ose dire,
La, la, la, je le vous dirai !

Il est un homme en nos villes
qui de sa femme est jaloux.
Il n'est pas jaloux sans cause,
mais il est cocu du tout !

La, la, la, je ne l'ose dire,
La, la, la, je le vous dirai !

Il n'est pas jaloux sans cause,
mais il est cocu du tout ;
Il l'apprête et s'il la mène
au marché s'en va à tout !

La, la, la, je ne l'ose dire,
La, la, la, je le vous dirai !

Enfin, las de ce supplice,
le pauvre homme se pendit.
Mais sa femme par malice
chez Lucifer le suivit !

La, la, la, je ne l'ose dire,
La, la, la, je le vous dirai !

La morale de cette histoire
c'est qu'avant de se marier
il faut savoir le jour-même
que c'est pour l'éternité.

La, la, la, je ne l'ose dire,
La, la, la, je le vous dirai !

I dare not say it

La, la, la I dare not say it,
La, la, la I'll tell you all about it!

There's a man who lives in our town
who is jealous of his wife.
He's not jealous without cause
as he's cuckolded by all!

La, la, la I dare not say it,
La, la, la I'll tell you all about it!

He's not jealous without cause,
as he's cuckolded by all.
He dresses her up and leads her
to the market where she offers herself to all!

La, la, la I dare not say it,
La, la, la I'll tell you all about it!

Finally, weary of this torture,
the poor man hangs himself.
But his wife out of malice
follows him to Lucifer!

La, la, la I dare not say it,
La, la, la I'll tell you all about it!

The moral of this story is:
Before getting married you
must know on that very day
that it's for eternity.

La, la, la I dare not say it,
La, la, la I'll tell you all about it!

Well, I'm playing on two senses in English.
They're at the market where goods are "offered" for sale, but to "offer yourself" can mean "be available for sex" so works really well here. I'm not sure if it's exactly what the French means but it sounds good in English. :)

My dictionary has "apprêter" as to dress up, to prepare. I guess it comes from "to make ready"?

rebug... ? Verlan? :)

Ah ha, you can use 'bug' as verb in french then! I see :)
We only have it as a noun in that sense.

(You can use it as a verb in English too but then it means something else "that bugs me" - "ça m'énerve" or maybe "ça me dérange")

Yes the english influence comes so you can write bogue or bug in french seems like spainish bug..
Or sometimes I said Je bug...My head bug..

Yeah - we use it slightly differently then:
Mon ordi bug - My computer has a bug
Je bug - My head is bugging me :)

We also say "stop bugging me" - lâche-moi la grappe ! / laisse-moi tranquille !
