Les Silhouettes
The sea is flecked with bars of grey,
The dull dead wind is out of tune,
And like a withered leaf the moon
Is blown across the stormy bay.
Etched clear upon the pallid sand
Lies the black boat: a sailor boy
Clambers aboard in careless joy
With laughing face and gleaming hand.
And overhead the curlews cry,
Where through the dusky upland grass
The young brown-throated reapers pass,
Like silhouettes against the sky.

Forgive the lack of poetic skills. But, this is what I see. 😊
* спасибо, PZ, the choice of «словно» rules over the choice of «как»!

I had Луна размыта и раздута choices, but neither is the image that evokes the picture so I settled on this as I’m trying to convey that poet was describing a painting or a scene. I’m looking to take a class on poetry - don’t expect much even then. Lol.
Thanks! I changed it a bit and like it more because I fit in “stormy” and sort of rhymed better the last line by moving words around.
