Marion Rung - Flip-flop

Angol
Angol
A A

Flip-flop

Silent sea and the mountains
Cloudless sky, ponds and fountains
This is his silly ??? panorama...

It delights but not me
For I'm waiting to see
That your little white donkey Parpano

Flip-flop, flip-flop
He planned it step by step
Flip-flop, flip-flop
The donkey's tail goes flap
Flip-flop, flip-flop
The donkey tried ???
Flip-flop, flip-flop
It is a sign to us

I see him every day
It's him I'm running after
I cannot follow him
I'm left behind

After hills when he runs
I'm breathless at once
Wallop, he's by the peak

Flip-flop, flip-flop
So that's my heartbeat time
Flip-flop, flip-flop
The donkey mocks me when I climb
Flip-flop, flip-flop
So that's my heartbeat time
Flip-flop, flip-flop
He mocks me when I climb

Such a most early runner
??? Parpano
Slowly poaching (?) his way through the hills

So he ran, I did follow
Over rock, over hollow
And I soon lost my way among the rills

Flip-flop, flip-flop
The ??? seems to stop
Flip-flop, flip-flop
My donkey friend is ??? off
Flip-flop, flip-flop
He leads me up the tract
Flip-flop, flip-flop
A sign to me, fall back

I follow down that wheel
Wet sounds of hooves ring on me (?)
All mountain, over hills
Pursuing him

After hills when he runs
I'm breathless at once
Wallop, he's by the peak

Flip-flop, flip-flop
So loud my heartly beat
Flip-flop, flip-flop
The donkey puts me on my feet
Flip-flop, flip-flop
And showed how to go on
Flip-flop, flip-flop
And stand and then was gone (x3)

Köszönet
thanked 1 time

Tietääkö joku, kuka on tämän kappaleen sanoittaja/Kääntäjä? En mistä löytynyt sitä tietoa valitettavasti. Olisin tosi kiitollinen tästä tiedosta / Do someone know, who was lyricist (translator to English) of this song? I didn't find that information unfortunately. I would be really grateful for that ))

It's a good question, but my search yielded no results thus far. It was probably a translator who never got mentioned for this publicly or it is not widely known...

Exactly, they are some Polish authors/writers. I don't believe they wrote the English text for Marion. I don't think it was her either, she didn't know Polish in order to translate.
So someone did it for her, but he wasn't credited anywhere. Confused smile

I think that the translator of this song could be one of the famous Finnish songwriters-translators of that time. For example Saukki (=Sauvo Puhtila), who wrote many songs for Marion and other authors in the 60s and 70s (in Finnish). But he could have written this translation anonymously, because this English song did not correspond to his traditional role as a Finnish-language songwriter and translator into Finnish. But this is just my assumption.

Yeah, you have more insights knowing Finnish and the culture. What I've already noticed here with some songs is that not much is known about the authors or the lyrics or who translated for example, there are many lesser-known songs.

Yes. By the way, an even more likely candidate for the role of the author of the text is Kari Tuomisaari. It is known for sure that he wrote lyrics in English too (besides Finnish), so it is logical to assume that he could translate this song.
