"Midst verdant village"
An article ("a" or "the") before "village" is needed here to prevent it from sounding unnatural to a native speaker's ear.
Do you know those article rules are now more relaxed, it seems.
Not sure about that.
The English language is pretty insistent on wasting breath on articles when using many words (such as village), unfortunately. I would gladly see English become more like Russian though and not use them, or at least not use them to such an excessive extent.
