Thank you for the Sumerian. I realy like this language. :)
However there are some mistakes, some words are not Sumerian but Akkadian (a Semitic language): mother is "ama" not "ummu(m)" (akkadian, umm in arabic), sun is "ud" not "samsu(m)" (like in arabic shams, in hebrew shemesh...)

for sumerian words :

Hi Gulalys. Sorry for the late reply.
My sources concerning this translation were from a German-Sumerian online dictionary and an English-Sumerian dictionary I had checked out from a local library. Both sources indicate that the word for mother is "ummum". However, you seem to be more of an expert in this language field hehe. I checked the website you cited, but I couldn't find any listing for any of the words in the poem. Any help is appreciated.

Hello,
I don't pretend to be an expert in Sumerian ^_^ . My only knowledge comes from books, articles, and my studies in linguistics but also from some Semitic languages that I have studied a little (espacially Arabic).

"samsum" and "ummum" are with semitic root words. But it is possible that Akkadian words slipped into the Sumerian language, since these two peoples have succeeded each other in history. But I don't know more about it.

That German-Sumerian dictionary really is a German-Akkadian one and/or bullshit. It even contains letters (q, x) which don't appear at all at least in scientific transliterations of Sumerian, as well as many syllable structures that don't appear in it either. I recognize a few of the words as Akkadian.
I prefer http://psd.museum.upenn.edu/epsd1/index.html (which Gulalys mentioned above)
and a few I have as PDFs.

6-7 of the words can be found in the Sumerian dictionary linked in the meanings given:
sheg, im, Ki, sadu (as satu), igi, a, na
The rest is likely Akkadian.
That would be the 3rd Akkadian text in our database, but it seems easier to me to correct it to full Sumerian as I have zero knowledge of Akkadian and therefore couldn't even recommend a dictionary. If you'll edit it I could try and correct it to a full Sumerian translation.
