Creaking windows
They rattle in the winds
Thoughtless voices
None welcome the cold
The whining winds
They moan and stir
Dust and dirt fly
And fill the air
Shuttering and shaking
Unpensive intruders
Drafting diligence
Cracks and crevices creak
The hoarfrost hag
Searching for sustinance
Lurking in leaks and lures
Stealthfully seeking, stealing...
Longing for warmth
In the harth's heat
In life's passion
Sealed against the cold
Coming to quench the cozy
To steal the warmth
Be it love or life
Compassion or coal
Only to thwart defeat
By hope's divine light
That cannot be vanquished
By unearthly gathering near
Creaking windows
They rattle in the winds
Thoughtless voices
None welcome the cold
The sun brings forth
The light of day
And melts away those fears
Eaves are dripping with thaw
And there awash in puddle frigid
The hoarfrost hag bides her time
Night's impending return
When she will again roam the mind
