Yes Sir!

Yes sir, yes sir,
It’s my son!1
Of course, of course!
Dancer, dancer, come enjoy the son!
Yes sir, of course!

Yes sir, yes sir,
It’s my son!
Of course, of course!
Dancer, dancer, come enjoy the son!
Yes sir, of course!

Here’s my son, the fruit of inspiration.
It comes from the forest and the cane fields.
A happy song full of tradition,
Like the sun peaking over the mountains.
It’s born from the soul,
Full of blue skies and palm trees.
Yes sir, it’s my son!

Yes sir, yes sir,
It’s my son!
Of course, of course!
Dancer, dancer, come enjoy the son!
Yes sir, of course!

Yes sir, yes sir,
It’s my son!
Of course, of course!
Dancer, dancer, come enjoy the son!
Yes sir, of course!

Coffee and tobacco is the heart of the son,
With the rhythm of a horse’s gallop.
Find the step and the sound.
Sing out your happiness like the rooster’s call.

The party’s begun,
And the aroma of albahaca & hierbabuena2 are in the air!
Come dance my son!

Yes sir, yes sir,
It’s my son!
Of course, of course!
Dancer, dancer, come enjoy the son!
Yes sir, of course!

Rhythm of excitement,
Of smiles and enjoyment.
Music full of life and party with my tasty son.
Yes sir, of course!

Do it well, do it well,
Dancer, dancer.
Back and forth,
Make it tasty!

Do it well, do it well,
Dancer, dancer.
Back and forth,
Make it tasty!

I sing to everyone,
And offer my good feelings
With the deep affection that in my homeland is a guarantee.
It goes like this:

Do it well, do it well,
Dancer, dancer.
Back and forth,
Make it tasty!

One mankind,
With one heart
That, mercifully
Will bring us peace and love,
God willing

(Do it well, do it well)
With flavor.
(Dancer, dancer )
What a great party!
(Back and forth)
Oh that’s good.
Make it tasty.

(Do it well, do it well)
Please
(Dancer, dancer)
Faster3
(Back and forth)
You too
(Make it tasty)

[Music – lute solo]

Yes sir
Of course!
What's up?

Yes sir
Of course!
What's up?

Rhythm of excitement,
of smiles and enjoyment
Music full of life and party with my tasty son!
Yes sir, of course!

(Do it well, do it well)
(Dancer, dancer)
(Back and forth)
Make it tasty!

(Do it well, do it well)
(Dancer, dancer)
(Back and forth)
Make it tasty!

I sing for everyone,
And offer my good feelings
With the deep affection that in my homeland is a guarantee.
It goes like this:

(Do it well, do it well)
With flavor!
(Dancer, dancer)
How good this is.
(Back and forth)
Oh how good!
(Make it tasty)

(Do it well, do it well)
Hurry!
(Dancer, dancer)
The dawn is coming!
(This son is done.)
(Yes sir, of course)

Dang!

Commenti dell’autore:

Gloria Estefan provided her own translation in the liner notes. She did not, however, translate every word. The improvisations were omitted and there were a few minor inconsistencies. I attempted to translate several lines myself.

This was a lot of difficult work for my poor little brain, a labor of love, and it took a lot of time. I would appreciate some thanks for this one.
