Man you have seriously no sense of poetry and thumbs up for the one who taught you this sh*ty Urdu. i am a native urdu speaker and your fallacious interpretations of relating this precious piece of poetry to the mere history of India really sickens me. Get a life.
For actual meanings you can have a look on my comment below.
Sandy_ptc, you are biggest shit on the earth. I could understand that whe I saw you comparing Sagar-o-Meena with Qutub Meenar or a Light House.
You are calling such a good effort in transalation when you don't know what Sagar-o-Meena. Tumse bada ch**t*ya aadmi meine nahin dekha.
Thanks Mahesh for such a good attempt. Especially this one:
The world is my play ground,
I see the game all around.
I accidentally came across this translation and i found it fine, though not very elaborate but thats the limitation of poetry, overall its a good attempt. secondly i want to say that "bazeecha" has nothing to do with "hand" as mentioned in first comment and "Atfaal" is the plural of word "Tifl" that means Kid/child so bazeecha e Atfaal refers to Kid's play like we say in urdu "bachon ka khel" and the exact translation of sagar o meena is "goblet and wine".
I am sorry but I see a point in the above discussion. I have been going through various interpretations oin the net for this interesting couplet about saagar-o-meena. I went through various dictionaries to understand saagar-o-meena which presents an interesting challenge. Just because scores of poets recently used this in the context mentioned doesn't make it right. Saagar of course in the sea/ocean and sometimes could refer to an ocean of wine going by Ghalib's weaknesses but need not be so everytime. About Meena, it is quite clear that all dictionaries refer to meena as light, which could also sometimes be interpreted as knowledge. So I tried translating this one as a sea of lights, which can refer to the play of lights in our life (maybe night life, including nauchghars). So maybe he is refering to leaving the hustle of nightlife before him - which also corroborates with aankhon mein to dum hai. Please excuse me, but I am a learner who prefers to keep re-interpreting till i can absorb the meaning (hazam kar sakoon). galtiyan maaf kijiyega bahas yu na band kijiye ki laisa age - har ek baat pe kehte ho ki tu kya hai
Also, what has your interpretation been regarding aurang-e-suleman other than throne of solomon which most interpretations have mentioned. seems nothing like ghalib in this interpretation. I was digging into aurang and it translates largely to transparent, water's color, dew or you can say the transparent environment that surrounds us.

This translation is a piece of crap. In fact I have not seen such big load of shit for a long time. To prove my point I am going to present below facts :
1) "Bazeecha" is referred to a hand in Urdu and in this case it refers to a hand in the game of Chess, so "atfal" means Chess and not play ground.
2) "Sagar" means the Ocean and "Meena" means a tower like "Qutub meenar" of Old Delhi. "sagar-o-meena" in fact means a Light House.
There is no gush of tipple drought. There is only a drought of understanding India and it's history in this translation.
