Чтоб жить, как ты хочешь, сначала иди учись. Читай много книжек, считай и решай задачи. Какие получишь - такая и выйдет жизнь. Жизнь будет потом. А пока ты ещё не начал.
 
Чтоб жить, как ты хочешь, иди получай диплом. Ходи на все пары, во имя бесхвостых сессий. Чтоб было, как хочешь, в далёком твоём "потом". Чтоб было - и точка, без всяких дурацких "если".
 
Чтоб жить, как ты хочешь, работай без выходных, больничных, отгулов, без отпуска, без роптаний. Смотри на великих, завидуй, тянись до них, пройди на пути через тысячи испытаний, карьерная лестница вверх, социальный лифт, кто выше тебя - те всего добивались сами. Карабкаясь вверх, ты успеешь увидеть ли, что стены в крови, а в том лифте веками ссали?
 
Чтоб жить, как ты хочешь, ты, кажется, опоздал. А как ты хотел? Время, знаешь ли, скоротечно. Ты пёрся наверх, но пробила твой лоб звезда. Теперь, может быть, кто-то даже поставит свечку.
 
Профукана жизнь по дороге в прекрасный миг, в котором всё будет, чтоб жить, наконец, как хочешь. Как жаль, что никто не сказал ни в одной из книг:

To live as you want to, you first educate yourself. Read more and more titles, solve problems, and master counting. The knowledge you gain will determine the life you have. You'll get to live later. Not yet — you are only starting.
 
To live as you want to, you should go to college, friend. Attend every lecture in order to flunk no classes. To have it your way in the land of your distant "then." To have it — no trade-offs, no ifs and no second guesses.
 
To live as you want to, keep working around the clock — no sick leaves, vacations, or days off, no endless moaning. Look up to the great ones, be envious, walk the walk, and clear all the hurdles you face on your trying journey; the corporate ladder, ride that elevator up, for those from above are self-made, and it bears repeating, but as you go higher, would you ever care to stop and notice its bloodstained walls and that it's been peed in?
 
To live as you want to … it may be too late by now. But what d'you expect? Life is short, and our time is fleeting. You pushed for the top, but a star punched right through your brow. And someone may now light a candle to show their pity.
 
You've squandered your life on a way to the time of bliss when you'd have what's needed to live your life as intended. Too bad that no book ever bothered to tell you this:

Ughm... I see a tricky mix of American and British variants of the English language here. First, if ''classes'' are supposed to rhyme somehow with ''guesses'' - that looks like American pronunciation. But then it should be social ''elevator'' instead of ''lift''. M-mmmm... If there were ''chances'' instead of ''guesses'' I wouldn't notice anything...

If you know how to squeeze "elevator" into that line, I'm open suggestions. And the American Heritage Dictionary, for instance, says that "lift" is chiefly British, i.e. it's not an unfamiliar word in the land of the free, even though it looks slightly unusual. Moreover, both "lift" and "elevator" aren't perfect in terms of conveying the Russian phrase, for in English it's much more common to talk about "social/upward mobility," whereas here "социальный лифт" is the go-to term.

I don't know, D. I'm quite happy with it, to be honest. Especially given that "peed in" gives me a two-syllable rhyme - "repeating" (actually, "repeating" corresponds to three syllables "been peed in"). I've added a couple of polysyllabic rhymes instead of somewhat common monosyllabic to spice up the rhyming pattern. It'd be a shame to lose one. But thanks anyway.

Well, ''social lift'' is a rare bird even in GB. ''Social elevator'' is much more common, however.
But the next problem is that I can't imagine a carpet in a Russian lift. Though many times did I see pee-pools on a bare floor.
