It's my life
I wake up and, outside, it's still full moon
I go out to touch my land (1)
it's one more night to be forgotten,
nothing which makes you realize
this life, then, which sense it has,
in a silence made to pray
strong a pain comes up to hurt me
but it is a wind which dies down in a moment
and leaves inside much cold
and toghether a lot of poverty
And it goes,
my thought goes away (2)
going along a flight which already knows
into which heart to go, and it will arrive,
and it goes
it's my age that goes away
and how much love away with her (3)
and this life
which passes and where does will it go (4)
I softly re-enter and as if I were a clown
slowly I start drawing (5)
the red circle of the smile
white light on my face
ready to start again
And it goes,
my thought goes away
going along a flight which already knows
into which heart to go, and it will arrive,
and it goes
it's my age that goes away
and how much love away with her
and this life
which passes and where does will it go
it's my life which passes and where does will it go

Russia is waging a disgraceful war on Ukraine. Stai con l'Ucraina!
(1) Many are the possible translations for italian "terra": land (also as "Country"); ground (as soil) and planet Earth itself
(2) "goes away" is the corresponding translation of italian "se ne va", whose structure might appear complicated, since it joins a false-reflexive particle (se) which doesn't match with English, and a pronoun (ne) which, in this case, is translated "off" or "away". As a matter of facts, "se ne va" is just one structure, whose reference verb is not "andare" but properly "andarsene" (the same can be said for expressions like "lavarsene le mani", to wash one's own hands of something - meaning: taking one's own responsibility off - or "fregarsene": "me ne frego" = I don't care of that )
(3) "her" refers to the age, which in Italian is a feminine noun
(4) Interrogative-dubitative form (generally introduced by adverb "chissà" = I wonder )
(5) italian verb "prendere" (= to take) is sometimes used as a synonym for "starting" (doing something); [construction: prendere + a + infinitive ]
