Marie

The birds are shitting from the sky
and I watch it
and I am here and alone
Marie where are you? Marie where are you?

Sometimes I think the world is an abyss
and we are falling but it's not evident to all
and so everything everything takes its course

My best friend has died way too young
For so long I don't have a mother anymore
Most times I lack the words for it
and if they come I don't know from where

if you would be here I would know for whom

The birds are shitting from the sky
and I watch it
and I am here and alone
Marie where are you? Marie where are you?

I think my sight is from the cities passing by
so tired, that it doesn't uphold anymore
I feel like there are a thousand cities
behind thousand cities no world

but it is anyway an abyss
we are falling, I think I enjoy it
and now I know, everything spins
everything spins, if you fall in love

The birds are shitting from the sky
and I watch it
and I am here and alone
Marie where are you? Marie where are you?

Marie Marie Marie Marie
Marie Marie Marie Marie
Marie Marie Marie Marie
Marie Marie Marie Marie

The birds are shitting from the sky
I watch it

Marie Marie Marie Marie
Marie Marie Marie Marie
Marie Marie Marie Marie
Marie Marie Marie Marie

Marie where are you?
Where are you Marie?

Thanks for translating! :) Here are some suggestions:

Often the appropriate translation for the past perfect tense in colloquial German is the imperfect tense in English. This is the case for this line, which should be "My best friend died way too young."

"Wärst" is a counterfactual subjunctive, so "If you were here I would know for whom."

Keeping so close to the German word order in this stanza just sounds strange in English, so you have to get creative and use a more normal English sentence structure. Maybe something like "The passing cities have tired my eyes so/that nothing can hold them anymore"

I think "And behind a thousand cities, no world" would be a more accurate translation of the fairly ordinary-sounding German line.

"but it is anyway an abyss" is an accurate translation as far as the meaning goes, but I think the tone is much more formal than the German original. I'd go with something much more informal-sounding, maybe "But hey, it's just an abyss anyway."

The comma they put in the German between Marie and wo bist du works the same way in English: "Marie, where are you?/Where are you, Marie?"
