Radioactive

Radioactive

Tolerating overheating
Only profit is on our mind
Blocking out truth massively
We are radioactive, too

Radioactive

In his heart1 everyone knows
that what is molten had been too hot
Subsisting oh so difficult
Fading away way too easy

We don't reach for the stars
You shall not revere us
We've got another motive
We're not broken - radioactive

Radioactive

  • 1. lit.: 'core'

Back? I wasn't constantly online during the weekend, but not really gone :) No problem, and please tell me should you spot bad English.

"Welcome back," in this case, simply meaning "hello" because I felt like being a smartass. :p

I most certainly will, but, as always, your translation seems just fine without my input. :D I thought "Kern" was "center" or "core," though. Then again, a lot of people refer to something's center as "The heart of x."

Yes, I think you would more likely use 'heart' rather than 'core' in English, but I left a footnote with the literal translation, because the choice of words seems interesting - 'core' and the song's name is 'radioactive'.

I think I read somewhere that it could be used to mean "nucleus." Again, given the way the song is written, it might make sense. Interesting song, but they probably could've done more with it.

Yeah, that's it, 'Kern' could also mean 'Atomkern' - 'atomic nucleus'. That's why it's hard to translate Heldmaschine's songs. They use all sorts of witty wordplay and idioms in their lyrics which sometimes just won't work in English. Those songs lose so much when they're translated.

It's hard to translate anything and understand its proper meaning through that without a lot of footnotes. Especially when a musician likes to toy with wordplay. So thanks for putting in the effort to try; it's difficult, but, again, you handle it just fine. Your English is excellent, to be frank.

Thanks :) I'm trying my best to get the meaning across and explain the wordplays and idioms.

And I appreciate it, ma'am. I'm still doing my best to teach myself this language, and so far, this is the best resource I have. Any and all help is appreciated.
