Stopover in Grado
I made a stopover in Grado
on Easter's Sunday
People on the streets
were running for the Mass
The air thick with incense
At the walls the Stations of the Cross
People faking rapture
Waiting for redemption from their sins
Agnus dei qui tollis peccata
Qui tollis peccata (mundi miserere)
Dona eis requiem
Dona eis requiem*
My style is as old
As Titian's house
In Pieve di Cadore
In my blood there is no water
But gall, with the power to heal you
One lightens with immensity
Showing a bit the tongue
To the priest giving the Host
One feels in paradise
Singing psalms a bit out of tune
Agnus dei qui tollis peccata
Qui tollis peccata (mundi miserere)
Dona eis requiem
Dona eis requiem

Music Tales
Read about music throughout history
Grado is small town and touristic port in the north east of Italy.
Pieve di Cadore is an even smaller mountain town where Titian was born in 1488- his (possibly non-authentic) birthplace still stands, close to the central square.
* In latin: "Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, have mercy, grant them rest". The "grant them rest" indicates that this is not the normal Mass version of the Agnus Dei, but the one for the Requiem Mass.
