I think that, in lyrics, one can take liberties with articles or lack thereof. I've seen it numerous times.
"Mountain-climbing" is an accepted/common term as a noun or adjective (and so is "mountain-climber").
Peak-climbing is not incorrect, but uncommon and a bit awkward. Peak-scaling (or scaling peaks)
seems more acceptable. But, peak-scaler is not in use, I think.

"Peak-bagging" is a funny one!
On 2nd thought, you're right, and not just because it saves a syllable -- "peak-scaling"
is actually closer to the Russian: "po skalam lazit' ".
Thus, "peak-scaling girl" is indeed more faithful to "skalolazka". Done!

@Aleks: thanks for the kind words! I'm going to elevate my game :-) albeit slowly, since the number of songs that appeal to me is small,
because I stopped speaking Russian full-time at the ripe age of 16, about 40 years ago... высоцкий is special to me, as he surely is to
many of my generation.

@Schnurrbrat: Wow! That translation is super-impressive due to its size and many archaic/obscure Russian words & expressions.
