Just a little

Without you now
Everything is gray
And the sun in the day looks
Black and white

Without you
There's no more magic
Everyday there's one taste
With no history1

How much desire to see you once has taken me,
[For you] to return the smile that has gone from me
One date with you, a final one for life
With this sad song I'd have invited you

Refrain
[If] just a little you had loved me,
Just a little more than yourself,
[Our] life today we'd have enjoyed.
[If] just a little you had waited for me,
If you hadn't gone away from me,
We would have sung for love.
Aj naj naj… (x2)

Without you now,
Only God knows
How much I pray
For a miracle to happen.

Without you now,
Can I drink
A glass in one shot
So the soul won't freeze.

Naj naj naj… (x2)

  • 1. I assume this means "with no change".

[@Gavagai] May I bother you with this :)? In particular:

1. What does «a taste without history» mean?
2. What exactly does «një got' me fund që shpirti të mos ngrij'» mean? I kept the other translation's rendition, but it looks like «A glass with bottom so the soul may not freeze» to me…

Sure

1. The correct translation of "Çdo dit' një shije ka/Pa histori" should be "Everyday has the same taste/without a history" (or "Everyday has only one taste/...") as opposed to "Everyday has a taste...". I do not know if this solves the problem, but keep in mind that the lyrics writers are no Nobel literature prize candidates.
2. "Pij një got' me fund" is idiomatic. "Pij me fund" means "I drink (the glass with alcohol) with one try", "I drink in one shot", "I take a shot". "Pij një got' me fund që shpirti të mos ngrij'" = "I drink a shot so the soul won't freeze"

I assume "history" here means something like "evolution, change"?

Yes, I guess that's the meaning which makes more sense. This is a literary form, not something someone would use in everyday language
