轻轻的我走了，

那河畔的金柳，

I left as gently as
the same way I first came here

bid farewell to west clouds dear
Golden willows at banks
were brides yclad in twilight
Their fair shades in ripples
stirred up my hearty delight
Duckweeds grown on soft mud
beneath the water fluttered gayly
Gentle waves of River Cam
where I a riverweed would be
A puddle beneath elm’s shade
was not fresh spring
but a rainbow
scattered among algae
precipitate’d iridescent dream
T’seek dream? Punt with a long pole
t’where grass’s greener wander upstream
Load'd with boatful starlight
I’d chant in blazing starlight beam
Yet I could not chant loud
Silence was the flute of farewell
Summer insects held their chirps
Cambridge eve in silence did dwell
I left as quietly as
the same way I first came here
I waved my sleeve to Cam
without taking a cloud dear
