Grandmother's Houseの歌詞
- 1. Slip on means 'I put on my cape to wear'. She's getting dressed.
- 2. She is in traffic now, describing the things that she sees as she drives or as she sits at a stop light.
- 3. A red cape, black boots, picking up a basket, and going to Grandma's house allude to the story of Little Red Riding Hood. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Red_Riding_Hood.
- 4. Apparently Houston Street in downtown Manhattan.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Houston_Street. Many thanks to Ww Ww - 5. She's slowly getting closer to her destination.
- 6. Interpretation note - Though packages are seen with Christmas trees in window displays of shops, she seems to refer to herself as the shiny white package, the pretense of trying to meet everyone's expectations of the perfect woman.
- 7. a. b. This alludes to the song Twelve Days of Christmas, popular in the US. https://lyricstranslate.com/en/Christmas-Carols-Twelve-days-Christmas-ly....
- 8. Possibly "the lane is dancing", a play on words, as she is still in traffic
- 9. Hiya - Appears to be an indigenous chant but also a play on words as the greeting. She has finally arrived and is saying hiya to everyone as she enters her destination.
- 10. Possible typing error or play on words canapés

may be this is text?
Lizzzard found the lyrics to seemingly the entire album (http://carlysimonmusic.com/music/Bedroom_Tapes.html).
Thanks Lizzzard!!!! Alma Barroca confirmed that the lyrics are accurate.
I have requested that ownership of the transcription be transfered to Lizzzard.
Sorry for whatever time was wasted, but at least we can move forward with translation, confident of the accuracy of the original transcription.
Oh thank you. This makes me feel so much better.
I am trying to add footnotes for people around the world in all uploads. Many countries know a version of "Riding Hood", but many countries do not.
My uploads are currently a mess, so I'm 1) going through them one-by-one to make sure idioms exist/appear and 2) adding footnotes to make sure any person from any country can understand. I can't save the world, but darn it, I can share good music, even if it kills me!
Ww Ww found the article/link about Houston Street. Thanks Ww Ww!

Official lyrics to tracks on The Bedroom Tapes: http://carlysimonmusic.com/music/Bedroom_Tapes.html. It appears that a few typographical errors were made.
The Bedroom Tapes is singer-songwriter Carly Simon's twenty-fourth overall album released in 2000. . . .On April 6, 2015, Simon re-released the album as a special edition with two bonus tracks." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bedroom_Tapes "The disc’s name, The Bedroom Tapes, refers to where the songs were recorded – in the repurposed bedroom of Carly’s daughter in their house on Martha’s Vineyard where Carly set up her studio after leaving New York in 1998. The relaxed atmosphere allowed Carly to work at her own pace and in her own way." https://www.axs.com/carly-simon-releases-expanded-edition-of-the-bedroom...
