Fried Chicken
Fried chicken, boiled chicken,
He went for a walk on the Nevsky boulevard (a boulevard in St. Petersburg)
He was caught, he was arrested,
He was ordered to show a passport.
If you don't have a passport, give us two bobs (money)
If you don't have two bobs, take off your suit (and give it to us)
If you don't have a passport, give us two bobs (money)
If you don't have two bobs, take off your suit (and give it to us)
I'm not Soviet, I'm not a Cadet,
I'm a chicken commissioner!
I wasn't executing (people) by shooting, I wasn't falsifying (documents or facts)
I was only pecking grains.
But the strict authorities, the horses asses (the author literally says "goats without antlers" as a swear word)
Caught him into a trap.
He was caught, arrested,
And torn to pieces.
Fried chicken, boiled chicken,
He couldn't say a word to his defense.
He was sent by fate, but fried afterwards,
And chickens want to live too!
Refrain:
I'm not Soviet, I'm not a Cadet,
I'm not Menshovik general!
I wasn't campaigning for anybody, I wasn't annexing (territory or property)
I was only pecking grains.

Предлагаю свой перевод первых трех куплетов:
I’m roasted chucky here,
I”m steamed one chucky here,
Down Nevsky Boulevard I took a stroll,
But they detained me,
And they arrested me,
“Where is your passport?” - asked, that’s all.
“I ain’t got passport”,
“Cough up some dough!
And if you don’t,
Take off your pants!
I’m not on Soviets side,
I’m not on Kadets side
A chicken Commisar’s my name.
I didn’t shoot no one,
I didn’t grilled no one,
I was just pecking me some grain!

This song was written most probably, in 1918, but no later than 1921. It's a satirical song that reflects the political situation in the Russian country at that time and criticizes the actions of the ruling political force (most probably the Bolsheviks). By year 1918 the Bolsheviks had won the Civil War and established their authority in the country, and they were hunting down the representatives of other political parties (the Cadets, the Mensheviks mentioned in the song, and others), doing it in such a manner that even an ordinary citizen was not safe. In this song a "chicken" (an innocent citizen) went for a walk, and since he couldn't establish his political views by showing his passport, and couldn't buy his freedom, he was executed. The protestation that he wasn't participating in any politics but "only pecking grains" didn't save him. The chicken is called "fried and boiled" probably because he had endured the hardships of being in the middle of war that "fried and boiled" him.
