He means "He came into her life one afternoon (all of a sudden), and now he's leaving on another afternoon (all of a sudden as well)". Sort of like, if he came into her life on a Monday, he's leaving her on the next Monday. That's why the title reads "Two afternoons of my life", he came and went. I hope that helps ^^

I'm glad I was of help. These songs are engraved into my mind, my father always told me what the songs meant and what he meant by them. In the song, he says it in an almost snappy version of "I can leave you life just as easily as I came into it".
