This song is a Habanera, a type of music, originating in Havana, Cuba. This one is in Spanish, but other ones can be written in Catalan.
1) Tacita lejana : Remote (Distant) Tacita "La Tacita de Plata " is the epithet used by Spanish people to call Cádiz. It can be translated by «The Silver little cup»
2) La Playa de La Caleta : This beach is located in the historical centre of the town, in front of «La Viña» area. It’s considerate by the "gaditanos" (inhabitants of Cádiz) as the emblematic beach of the town, even it’s the smallest one of the town.
3) El Malecón is the name of the Promenade on the port of Havana
4) La Alameda Apodaca is a promenade going from the Baluarte (bulwark) de la Candeleria to San Carlos’fortification. It was first an English-style garden but after works done in the XX Century, it’s actually a Sevillan-style garden
5) Puerta de la Tierra: is a redoubt which was the entrance wall in the city of Cadiz, irrigated in the eighteenth century. At the centre of the construction, there is a marble gate flanked by 2 columns. The small tower, erected above, dates from 1850 and served as a telegraph.
Nowadays, the opening of the 2 arches in the fortification allows the traffic and it separates the “Casco Antigo” (the old town) from the modern part (Extramuros).
6) La Viña and El Mentidero: are two historical areas of Cádiz.
* La Viña: Is located at the extreme Southwest of the town in front of Caleta beach. In this place, far from the port, vines were cultivated in the 18th century. The neighbourhood was inhabited by the working classes, depending on fishing activity and the Caleta beach.
* El Mentidero is located in the extreme Northwest of the city. Before its urbanization in the middle of the 18th century, it was an orchards' area. In this district, there is a square, Plaza del Mentidero, completed in 1773. It gave its name to the district. This is where false news and rumours started.
7) Piriñaca: It’s the name of a typical dish of Cádiz, mackerel with "piriñaca"
8) Carnival of Cádiz : The origins of this carnival date from the 16th century, when Cádiz was one of the most important ports of the Spanish Empire. Influential people arrived in the city, from all over the world, especially from Venice, because of commercial ties. Some Venetian traditions were copied and the Carnival of Cádiz became one of the most atypical where several weeks of humour, disguises, fantasy take place.
9) Son de chirigota :
The «son» is a typical music rhythm of Cuba
a "chirigota" It's a comic group from the Carnival of Cadiz
