Chocolate

You love so much the smell of vanilla
tart taste, bitter choco-chocolate.
You're after trendy and strong guys,
yet leave them with no rewards.

Now when I'll end up alone with you,
you'll soon melt in my hands.
You most sweet and earthly delight,
tonight you're mine alone.

(chorus x2)
The taste of chocolate,
that's all she ever needs.
A mix of fantasies and passions
that is the secret of her every night.

If you wish to become sexy,
make use of1 choco-chocolate.
Yes, with these smashing looks
the sky will be the limit2

Only you stir feelings inside me,
you turn me on something fierce3
You most sweet and earthly delight,
today you're mine alone.

«Do whatever you want with my translations» has an interesting connotation here 😉

silencedsilenced    土, 30/05/2020 - 15:46

Well, as long as I'm not forced to witness their use, it's fine by me.

BlackSea4everBlackSea4ever    土, 30/05/2020 - 16:19

Have you seen your compatriot, PaotrLaouen, translations? I’m beginning to feel irrelevant.

silencedsilenced    土, 30/05/2020 - 17:55

Apparently he's truly literate, which I am not. Probably more in the Philippe category.
His few English to French translations are flawless. The rest I cannot judge for lack of knowledge.
Still you don't work on the same languages, so why would he make you feel irrelevant?

BlackSea4everBlackSea4ever    土, 30/05/2020 - 18:11

Maybe not irrelevant as much as insignificant. As usually, I want to know what people think and feel, but I find few are willing to talk - after all, a flawless translation speaks for itself...

Literate you are - don’t shop for compliments. Erudite? We all have limits in regards to knowledge.

Philippe may be a better poet, but his presence is limited lately. He’s playing in other sandboxes. And out of sight is out of mind (or it should be)

I'm not fishing for compliments. I just don't have any literary background to speak of.
I liked French and got good grades, but I don't know anything beyond A level, for instance about poetry of formal styles. My school years were disastrous as far as languages are concerned. I never set to learn German or Russian properly. As for English, I got it from computer games and Dungeons&Dragons manuals of the 80's.
I might be an enthusiast, but my command of languages, including my own, is nevertheless empirical at best. Full of holes, with frail and fuzzy frames of reference.
But that's fine. I don't think you need to be a poet or a writer to make a song understandable. Still I recognize a quality in some more literate people's work that I cannot achieve.
As for Philippe, I was very disappointed and sad to see him gone. I hope he'll drop by again.
