Xa va xa va xa -> that's a funny phonetic rendition of "qu'ça va..." (que ça va...) :)
same for "za", a materialization of the way a "z" is pronounced in "des amours" ("dézamour")
I second domuro's remark, "ongles de nacre" is about pearly nails, though "nacre" is usually associated with teeth.
And all the allusions to roses hint at this classic poem.
Xa va xa va xa - I understood that as you explain it, but I have omitted the translation here in order to preserve the drollness of the dialect (isn't it the idiom of the Ch'ti in Picardy?). The joke would be lost if it were translated...
Anyway, thank you for your comment... :)
It could be from Ch'ti, although with our different accents it would more sound like : "ksôva" (in North like Dunkerque, Lille) or "Kxavā" (South, Cambrai and cities around). Raymond Queneau was from Normandy, but his art and Oulipo movement was based on play-on-words, so…
I agree with you, the joke would be lost in English, so l would have let it as it is too ;)
