The Little Wrenの歌詞

One day, under the rain
A little wren broke her little leg
Each droplet brought her pain
So she sought a site to cover her head.

“My little wren - a hunter said -
I saw you trembling under this tree
And I came to mend your broken leg
So fear me not, darling, you see,

I won’t leave you here alone to bleed
I’ll give you shelter in my hand
Don’t linger now, come with me”
Thus to his dwelling they went.

“Your little leg is slightly bent
It surely needs some time to heal
Let me cure it, my dear friend
As your wounds heal and you lay here”.

To the creature’s little ear
Those words seemed reassuring
The wounds slowly disappeared
And her little leg kept growing.

Now, that wren was so alluring
Her plumage: dark-coloured
Her beady eyes couldn’t help glowing
When her little, tawny wings hovered.

Time passed by and the bird recovered
Therefore she prepared to get away
“Are you leaving? Don’t bother
You’re mine, you’re meant to stay.

I’ve built a little cage
I’ll place it under that distant oak
If you escape I won’t hesitate
To slit your pretty, little throat”.

He locked her in the new abode
And beat her in a brutal way
As the shuddering bird groaned
Till she couldn’t feel her own weight.

Hence she passed her days
Getting disdained, hit and punched
Imploring him to stop in vain
When he got home completely drunk.

Albeit feeling stuck, albeit her bad luck
And being so confined
Yet during the night she snuck
In a place in her own mind.

The little wren imagined
Flying up
Spreading her wings
In a place that transcends
Every time and every space,
Owning something
Not to be taken by anyone
Or anything.
She dreamt of living
In a world
Where all the creatures
Of creation
Respected each other.
A world
Without any oppression
Any violence
Any repression
Any silence.
She wanted to
Fly
High
In the immense blue,
Feeling the air
The breeze
The wind
Caressing her feathers.
And the little wren sang
Oh, she sang so much!
She intoned such a merry
Carefree melody
That all the lovers passing by
Stood there mesmerized
By the little wren's hymn,
As they kissed each other
Now and then
Leaning on the gates
Of the night,
In the dazzling light
of their first love.

The little wren then thought out loud:
“Now I have nothing to lose
I can reach this place I'm dreaming about
where I won’t suffer any abuse

So I could try to break loose
And never look back.
I just need a little noose
Tied around my little neck”.
