I am not convinced by this translation, it's neither litterally nor capture it the sens.

I am so sorry that you are not happy with it. Could you perhaps be more specific and offer a solution for what seems to be 'not exact' or nor 'capturing the song's 'general idea/mood/meaning'? I hope I understood you right? I am not fluent in French, and it seems to me that your English fluency would be perhaps a bit better than where my fluency in French is? :-) Thank you! I am well aware... I think this attempt could be called 'English lyrics", not a 'translation'. Would you agree with that?

I am not sure how to say it .. Except perhaps to give up on finding the rhyme for Apollinaire, that would open some options. I am thinking of moving Germany to the end of that phrase about what she loves and perhaps have a weak rhyme./no rhyme... Ger-ma-ny... This can be musical as well as meaningful ...:
' So many things I used to love about Germany, I reverie with verses of Apollinaire'.... Good night!

The is an allusion to the French poet Apollinaire too. He has been inspired (among others) by Germany, for example in this poem .
