"Lager" in this case refers to "Konzentrationslager" -> concentration camp

"Heimat" would refer to home in general, not homeland, the writers of this song were germans

some minor improvements/suggestions:

note 'moor' is a perfectly good English word too. Moor und Heide = moor and heath.

Eichen stehen kahl und krumm - the oaks stay bare and crooked

stays in their minds - stays on their minds

Sighs stretch (not very poetical) - sighs heave

Doch für uns gibt es kein Klagen = But for us there is no (use) complaining

This being a pretty famous song - there are some more poetical translations out there. "Peat Bog Soldiers" seems to be the most common title.

I think "coloni" is not a good translation for "Kolonnen", it's more something like
prisioners' gangs or columns

Ich weiss nicht was ich im Kopf hatte mit "colonni"...

Na, wenn "klagen" "complaining" hier bedeutet, dann waere dieses Lied ein bisschen widersprüchlich, oder? "heave" und "dehnen" haben nicht die gleiche Bedeutung. Poetischkeit ist wichtig, aber ich versuche immer auch Uebersetsungen zu schreiben, die so woertlich wie moeglich sind.

Mmh, but he's right, "appeals" isn't the right translation. It's more like, "For us there's no lamenting" in the sense that they try to keep their spirits up because they're confident that they won't be imprisoned forever...

Das waere eigentlich schoen, wenn es ein leichte Sache fuer dich ist. Wenn's eine Flasche ist, dann bemühe dich nicht :)

Mmh, "we can't complain" that's not quite true, "we won't complain" would be better (although I like my version of this phrase even better)...
