Some fun videos to watch:
✹ 1970's Japanese top idols got pranked one by one:
(in that video: (0:02) Yamaguchi Momoe, (0:17) Candies, (0:36) Pink Lady, (0:51) Minami Saori, (1:08) Asaoka Megumi)
✹ 1970's Japanese top idols singing together:
(in that video, from left to right: Asaoka Megumi, Asada Miyoko, Minami Saori, Amachi Mari, Yamaguchi Momoe, Sakurada Junko)
✹ 1970's idols in their TV commercials (CM) :
✨ Asaoka Megumi CM 1, 2, 3
✹ 1980's biggest idols: Matsuda Seiko, Nakamori Akina, Koizumi Kyoko (and two most popular male idols at that time, one of them is Akina's ex boyfriend) singing together on the same stage; singing Pink Lady's song :
✹ Example of the idols race in Oricon Chart from 1981 - 1989:
*It can be seen that while the likes of Hayami Yuu and Matsumoto Iyo could kept their place somewhere around rank #10 - #20 consistently for almost a decade, but Nakamori Akina was simply on another level. Everytime she released a new song, it touched the ceiling (reached the #1 rank) and everybody else fell down from Oricon Chart. Unfortunately the video uploader didn't include Matsuda Seiko in that video, so we can't watch the two "queens": Seiko & Akina battle for the Oricon #1 rank.
✹ Nakamori Akina impersonating Matsuda Seiko in a variety show:
✹ Nakamori Akina VS Matsuda Seiko bowling match in 2005:
✹ Kohaku Uta Gassen performances :
I have watched a lot of Japanese idol videos from 1970s-1980s on YouTube and instantly liked them all, so I'll translate some of their songs here. But it won't be fun if I translate them just like that, so I've prepared a specific concept: retro idol translation series.
It's a translation series with 100 song translations. Each segment will have different idol with 4 songs or less. Each translations will be put in chronological order and connected to each other.
On the comment, I will also add various information: short introduction of each idols, who they are, how successful they careers are, how popular the song was back then, what they looks like then and now, and various videos related to them.
All these singers were living in the same country and singing at the same era, so there were instances when they met each other in the same show, sometimes they performed together, and some even developed friendship. I will add videos when they appeared together too, like a 'movie crossover'.
Basically, I'll make my profile page look like a mini documentary of retro Japanese idols, and the 100 translations will serve like 100 mini episodes that are connected to each other.
Most of the idols I'll add are the most popular ones from their era but popularity is not a necessity; which means I could skip some of the popular ones or include some less popular singers based on personal preference.
For people who want to know who these singers are; in every first translation I made for each artist listed below, I always add their short introduction and videos of what do they look like then and now.
So, let's take a glimpse to the past and watch these retro idols in their heyday. They are too precious to get forgotten by time.
P.S:
Asaoka Megumi won't be included in '70s part and neither will Wink in '80s part , even though they were very popular in their eras, because there are already two accounts dedicated to exclusively translate only their songs:
- Asaoka Megumi (a very popular Japanese idol from early to mid 1970s) song translations can be found here: https://lyricstranslate.com/en/translator/greypanda
- Wink (an extremely popular idol duo from late '80s to mid '90s) song translations can be found here: https://lyricstranslate.com/en/translator/lucent
Even then, I still mentioned them in the comments every once in awhile, as if they're making cameos.
But if I'm to add Megumi and Wink to this retro idol translation series (I wish I can), it will look like this:
Asaoka Megumi:
- わたしの彼は左きき (Watashi no kare wa hidarikiki)
- 女の子なんだもん (Onna no ko nandamon)
- 雪の中の二人 (Yuki no naka no futari)
Wink:
- 真夜中のエンジェル〜 (One Night In Heaven)
