Álvaro Soler - La cintura (Engels vertaling)

Spaans

La cintura

Destaca cuando anda
Va causando impresión
Cada día cuando levanta
Brilla como el sol

Su vestido de seda
Calienta mi corazón
Como en una novela
En la televisión

Me acerco a ti
Bailemos, juguemos
Acércate

Porque mi cintura
Necesita tu ayuda
No lo tengo en las venas
Y no la puedo controlar

Creo que mi cintura
Choca con mi cultura
Tropiezo con la arena
Ya no me puedo controlar

Y bajando, bajando eh
Olvidando, olvidando
Que estoy bailando, bailando eh
Y así hasta el amanecer

Porque mi cintura
Necesita tu ayuda
No lo tengo en las venas
Voy a prender a controlar
Mi cintura, cintura

¿Por qué no bajamos a la playa?
Para así practicar
Pronto por la mañana
Y así no hay nadie más

Cuando bailo contigo
Tu cuerpo me da calor
Besito a besito
Mi fruta de la pasión

Me acerco a ti
Bailemos, juguemos
Acércate

Porque mi cintura
Necesita tu ayuda
No lo tengo en las venas
Y no la puedo controlar

Y bajando, bajando eh
Olvidando, olvidando
Que estoy bailando, bailando eh
Y así hasta el amanecer

Porque mi cintura
Necesita tu ayuda
No lo tengo en las venas
Voy a prender a controlar
Mi cintura cintura

Ven hacia mi, ven hacia mi
Como las olas del mar
Ven hacia mi, ven hacia mi
Que ya no puedo parar

Ven hacia mi, ven hacia mi
Como las olas del mar
Ven hacia mi ya no puedo parar

Y bajando, bajando eh
Olvidando, olvidando
Que estoy bailando, bailando eh
Y así hasta el amanecer

Porque mi cintura
Necesita tu ayuda
No lo tengo en las venas
Voy a prender a controlar
Mi cintura cintura

Y bajando, bajando eh
Olvidando, olvidando
Que estoy bailando, bailando eh
Y así hasta el amanecer

Mi cintura, cintura

The Waist

She stands out when she walks
She's making an impression
Every day when gets up
She shines like the sun

Her silk dress
Warms my heart
Like in a novela*
On TV

I move closer to you
Let's dance, let's play
Come closer

Because my waist
Needs your help
I don't have it in my veins**
And I can't control it

I think that my waist
Clashes with my culture
I trip up on the sand
I can't control myself anymore

And going down, going down eh
Forgetting, forgetting
That I'm dancing, dancing eh
And like this until dawn

Because my waist
Needs your help
I don't have it in my veins
I'm going to learn to control***
My waist, waist

Why don't we go down to the beach?
To practice like this
Early in the morning
So there's nobody else

When I dance with you
You body brings me warmth
Kiss to kiss
My fruit of passion

I move closer to you
Let's dance, let's play
Come closer

Because my waist
Needs your help
I don't have it in my veins
And I can't control it

And going down, going down eh
Forgetting, forgetting
That I'm dancing, dancing eh
And like this until dawn

Because my waist
Needs your help
I don't have it in my veins
I'm going to learn to control
My waist, waist

Come to me, come to me
Like the ocean waves
Come to me, come to me
I can't stop anymore

Come to me, come to me
Like the ocean waves
Come to me I can't stop anymore

And going down, going down eh
Forgetting, forgetting
That I'm dancing, dancing eh
And like this until dawn

Because my waist
Needs your help
I don't have it in my veins
I'm going to learn to control
My waist, waist

And going down, going down eh
Forgetting, forgetting
That I'm dancing, dancing eh
And like this until dawn

My waist, waist

Comments van auteur:

* A "novela" or "tele-novela" is a distinctive type of Spanish or Hispanic Latino soap opera.

** "To have it in the veins" simply means to be naturally good at something. It's used in English in many regions as well.

*** The lyrics in Spanish are incorrect for this line. It should be "Voy a aprender a controlar" which means "I'm going to learn to control."

prender = to take, aprender = to learn.

I'm not a native Spanish speaker, so I encourage and am open to correction.

Hey, I think the line "Voy a prender a controlar" is incorrect.
I think it should be "Voy a aprender a controlar" i.e. "I'm going to learn to control".

The official music video translates "cintura" as "hips".

I opted for a more literal translation. "Cintura" means "waist" although in English, in the context of dancing, we would more frequently say "move your hips" rather than "move your waist".
