Yes, today I am on a roll, no two ways about it –
The Moscow crowd is bursting with delight, -
I calmly intercept the passess
And sweep up the dead balls.
 
Now the referee assigns a penalty to the other side –
The reporters are swarming in a cloud at those gates.
Only one is determined to be bored behind my back –
He will rest superbly today!

Мертвый мяч — неотразимый удар, который даже выдающимся вратарям крайне редко удается парировать. Особенно сложно поймать или отбить мяч, летящий в девятку.

Knuckleball - это удар с наклевом. Нет, Надя, это не про разновидность удара и не про движение мяча в момент удара, а про то, что вытащить такой мяч вратарь просто не может.

Но этот вратарь же вытаскивал. Короче, в английском народе они называются deadballs (вместе пишутся) или knuckleballs. Пинхус, ты же видишь, сколько здесь неточностей в переводе. Я думала все англичане в футболе разбираются, ан нет. Мне надо с предложениями выходить, а смотреть английскую премьер-лигу мне не хочется.

Ну, я-то английский футбол смотрел. Обычно комментатор в этом месте кричит что-то вроде "incredible save" (save - существительное). Так что, повторюсь, я бы перевел как "I make amazing/fantastic/etc. saves"

Thanks both. Have gone for 'sweep up the dead balls'. Not sure which rule applies to be honest: I think Свободный удар is an indirect free kick, and what the goalie is doing here is returning the ball to play. According to the rules, it isn't dead at this point, but that seems to be what he's saying.
