What Did Love Ever Do For You? tekst

For love, you would climb to the top of the mountain
For love, you would swim 'cross the deep, blue sea
For love, you'd give everything
And it seems as though you always lose
Still, you just refuse to face reality

What did love ever do for you?
What have you got to show for it?
Why do you always go for it
Just to let love let you down?
What did love ever give to you?
How can you say it was worth it all?
Don't you know every time you fall,
You're heading straight for the ground?

For love, you would bend over backwards to please her
For love, you would sacrifice all of your pride
For love, you'd do anything, any fool could see
Down on bended knees, the truth can't be denied

What did love ever do for you?
What have you got to show for it?
Why do you always go for it
Just to let love let you down?
What did love ever give to you?
How can you say it was worth it all?
Don't you know every time you fall,
You're heading straight for the ground?

For love, you'd do anything
You play the fool so easily
Down on bended knees, the truth can't be denied

What did love ever do for you?
What have you got to show for it?
Why do you always go for it
Just to let love let you down?
What did love ever give to you?
How can you say it was worth it all?
Don't you know every time you fall,
You're heading straight for the ground?

For love, you'd do anything
And you play the fool so easily
Down on bended knees, the truth can't be denied

What did love ever do for you?
What have you got to show for it?
Why do you always go for it
Just to let love let you down?
What did love ever give to you?
How can you say it was worth it all?
Don't you know every time you fall,
You're heading straight for the ground? (х2)

Thanks so much for you collaboration Sarah Rose.
Just a suggestion:
Don't could be:
For love: you would climb to the top of the mountain
For love: you would swim 'cross the deep, blue sea
For love: you'd give everything

?

The proper way to punctuate it is with a comma. A semicolon separates two main clauses, but these aren't two separate clauses. Another way to write it is "You'd give everything for love." When written that way, it is clear that it's all one phrase.

Sure, I'll see what I can do!

OK, but
: it's a colon,
; it's a semicolon.
But don't take care, you had already made a good work me.
Thank you.

You're right, I should have said colon. But neither a semicolon or colon would be correct there, it has to be a comma.

I posted what I could hear, but I couldn't finish it. If you have any other open requests, let me know and I'll take a look.

Hi, Felix. I remember listening to that orphan of yours. It's a piece of cake to transcribe. Then I must have forgotten about it. I'm sure Sarah can do it in a wink. If she doesn't have time I'll do it for you :)

Sarah, Felix,

I've edited the lyrics and corrected a couple of things.
1. as though you always lose (no 'will' here)
2. Down on bending knees.

Thank you for transcribing and posting this song :)

Thanks, sandring, but "down on bending knees" is not what I hear him saying and it's not grammatically correct. The phrase is "on bended knee," not "on bending knee." He's just made knees plural.

Sarah, I was pretty much surprised myself to hear "bending" but sometimes singers make deviations from the lyrics and editors have to enter what they actually sing. But I've listened to it at a very slow speed - you're right, it's "bended". I'll correct that. Thank you for pointing that out. :)

That's true, but since these lyrics weren't available anywhere, I transcribed them based on what they were actually singing. I think it would be more practical for editors to vet suggested changes before editing the lyrics, it would save time for everyone rather than having to switch them back and forth. I've had to change some translations as many as four times only to have the source lyrics returned to what they were in the first place.
