Prośba o korektę
Oryginalne teksty (piosenek)

And I'll Lose My Core
I'll lose my core, far from you I’ll lose my core,1
Like smoke, like the earth, a bit of earth and water.
I’ll pour myself into deep rivers, I will pour.
Near you not one, not even one single hour.
Sundays, expect to find me among the martyrs.
Saturday nights, you might find me in the harbors.
In some dusty corner of the mansion of our dead romance,2
You will cry, but for us there'll be no renaissance.
And I’ll be thrown into the waves, I will be thrown,
like a stone wet with sea foam, a salty stone.
And I will reject the whole world, I will reject!
Near you not one, no not even one single sec.
Far from you I will fall apart, I’ll fall apart,
Like smoke, like soil, a bit of soil and water.
I’ll pour myself into deep rivers, I will pour.
Near you not one, not even one single hour.
Sundays, expect to find me among the martyrs.
Saturday nights, you might find me in the harbors.
You will cry about our dead romance, coffin-cornered,
But as before I'm sure it will get you nowhere.
- 1. "θα χαθώ" is used in Greek with many shades of meaning. The most straightforward translations would be "I will be lost," "I will get lost," "I will lose myself." After much consideration, I hit upon "I'll lose my core," which fit fairly nicely into the sound pattern of the line and the verse.
- 2. I elablorated the metaphor of the "corner of our dead romance" to include a dusty mansion that are not in the Greek original, an idea that dovetails with the images in the linked YouTube video of the song. The added words also help this line have the same number of syllables (12) as the original.

O tłumaczu
I submitted this as a "new" song even though the site already had the version by the original artist, Μιχάλης Χατζηγιάννης. I did so because I wasn't able to find Χατζηγιάννης when I used the search bar.
This is not a word-by-word translation. Instead, it is my attempt to capture not only the imagery and ideas of the original lyrics, but also (as much as possible) the strong musicality of the language (which involves end-rhyme, meter, repetition, and other sound-patterns).
Both the original and this translation have 12 syllables per line. So, in theory, you could use the original melody to sing it in English.
The song concerns the ending of a romantic relationship, specifically the speaker's powerful feelings of melancholy and anger.
Repetition with variation is one of the poetic techniques used very effectively in several lines of the original song. And I hope in the translation too.
